Both satisfying and efficient
This is my first Milwaukee tool, and one of the first power tools i’ve bought new. Coming from eBay 12v lithium Makita brushed drills/drivers, of course the jump from brushed to brushless is impressive. Despite loving the fine, instant and precise trigger actuation of my Makita tools, this definitely competes and maybe isn’t exactly as slick, but in use I’ve never noticed a difference. In terms of everyday usability, it’s surprisingly heavier which is the sole reason I went 12v for both lineups but in use I absolutely don’t mind the extra weight. It’s never felt cumbersome or uncomfortable. Now for the elephant in the room, the hydraulic impact mechanism. Not only is it substantially quieter which I love and is honestly the main reason I bought it, but the impacts are both more precise and repeatable between screws. It feels like my old Makita just “goes ham” and makes a racket, this M12 Surge quietly cranks out precise repeatable and powerful blows. It feels more smooth premium and controlled. My favorite features are, in order: the quietness of impacts, selectable speed, one handed bit chuck, and precision/premium feel of using it day to day. I’m really happy Milwaukee is still giving their m12 line some love as not everyone needs the power and increased weight and bulk of 18/20v lineups. Overall this is my new go to for driving screws and such into anything as it’s honestly just satisfying and easy to use. The price is actually pretty fair considering I’m usually a value shopper and don’t buy new. I’m impressed and hope to get a long life out of it. I feel and see no reason why it wouldn’t last, and if it somehow doesn’t I like this enough I’d consider purchasing another if that day comes.

High power quality!
Professional use--automotive technician. I've beat the crap out of this tool (not on purpose) and it's my go to. It has tons of power for such a small unit when paired with an adapter and is light is versatile. This "SURGE" tool hits hard and is great to use for any of my jobs big or small. Only "complaint" is the light could be brighter. Amazing price too, comes bare tool but any Milwaukee or equ. M12 battery will do the work.

A little beast of a 1/4" impact
Small in size and voltage only, the Milwaukee M12 Fuel hydraulic impact makes less noise and vibration than any I've ever used, yet delivers performance on par with some 18V units. A brushless motor means one less maintenance item to worry about, and its efficiency keeps it running long and strong. Even the smallest 2.0 Ah battery has lasted me through a full day of screwing drywall. It won't break loose the lugnuts on your vehicle, but it will deal with most automotive fasteners encountered in typical maintenance and repair, making it versatile well beyond driving screws. I expect this will be the last one I ever buy.

Works well
Real nice and powerful. I work as an aircraft mechanic and this tool really helps knock screws that are stuck bad. It’s worth the price. You just need a battery for it

INCREDIBLE SOUND REDUCTION
This tool is amazingly quieter than their ordinary M12 impact.Running down simply drywall screws sounds like going from YELLING to just speaking up.The impacts are cushioned but strong so it doesn’t beat your wall like a drum while impacting but it’ll still snap a screw if you’re not focused. The impacts sound so consistent; the pitch doesn’t change when a screws almost tight. This tool is so nice and precise I find myself babying it out of worry. I hope they continue to make these surge products👍

Not in original Milwaukee Packaging ...
I was surprised to receive the bare tool and the instruction booklet in a plastic bag. See photo.I question whether this is a legit Milwaukee tool - although I did check the serial number on Milwaukee website and it seemed to accept it. I also did research on the seller who's business is registered in Guatemala.I tested the drill and inspected it close up, and it appears to work fine and I can't see any evident blemishes that could indicate a counterfeit.I would have much preferred to get one in a box and I think that there should be clear statements on the product description saying it comes without the original OEM box (and why). Hence 4 stars.Drill driver is great so far. No issues.

Slower but Quieter and less Destructive
I have this and the M12 Standard Impact Driver and I’ll often grab the Surge when I’m dealing with tougher, more precise jobs. It just always works, no question, and will often seat screws with less damage to the surrounds. Really great.

The power of this is just insane.
The power of Milwaukee's 12V is just insane. Most people are taken back when I use this and can't comprehend a 12V system can do what Milwaukee does. Their 12V line is great for weekend warriors and a couple of professionals I know also use their 12V set-ups most of the time since they are lighter and can do 90% of the work that their 18V counterparts can do.
