How does this compare with the model that is cheaper and only says grill not griddle and toastie machine?

You can't cook an egg for example on a grill, u need a griddle for that. The smaller ones will not be large enough for a toasted sandwich either.

Will the small grill for 2 people

I would always recommend splashing out on the big one. It has a stonking 2400 watts (the small is a measly 760), so it will grill things properly. And it’s big enough for when you have company.
