Tarot of the Divine: A Deck and Guidebook Inspired by Deities, Folklore, and Fairy Tales from Around the World: Tarot Cards

I fell in love with this deck the first time I saw the art for it on Pinterest. I love the illustrative style, and the artwork makes it really easy to understand the meanings of the cards. Every card is so vibrant and colorful. I already own a few other decks and I can only think of one where I genuinely enjoy the art on every single card. This deck is perfect for beginners and experts alike because the art is very easy to read, and the stories from the cards enhance the meanings even more. A lot of the stories were familiar to me, but many of them were also new to me. I personally enjoy this as I love learning about stories from other cultures, and I've always loved mythology. The deck does come with a small guide, which is more than enough. However, there is a companion book that goes in-depth for each of the stories. Even though it's not necessary to be able to use this deck, I will definitely be getting it. The packaging is also very pretty and sturdy. This entire deck is really good quality, especially for the price. Just based on the artwork and research effort alone, I would pay more than the listed price (and I even got it on sale). Finally, I know this comes down to personal taste, but the cards have the same thickness and texture as traditional playing cards. I personally enjoy this because it makes them really easy to shuffle, and I don't have to worry as much about damaging them. Overall, I think this deck is definitely my new go-to.

I bought this deck because I kept seeing the beautiful illustrations online. I don’t really relate to traditional Tarot artwork and miss parts of the symbolism because they’re so busy and uninviting. The book that comes with the set has the illustrations and a brief summary of the fairy tale. I like the offered interpretations of the cards, too. They are to the point and accurate. I purchased Yoshi Yoshitani’s companion book, Beneath the Moon, which I highly recommend as an adjunct. I wanted to know more about the fairy tales, because they so beautifully illustrate the meanings of each card. But it’s a perfectly fine deck without it. I have a couple of other decks, and I’m unable to properly shuffle them because I have small hands and the cards are so stiff. In this deck, the cards are the same large format but are flexible enough for me to easily shuffle. They are plenty sturdy. Do I love the shiny, textured finish on them? I don’t. But the magic of this deck is the artwork, which is superb, the meanings presented, and the stories, which help me remember the cards better than anything else I’ve used.

I honestly have yet to actually work with this deck but the premise of Global Fairytales was a huge draw for me! I purchased 2 copies of the deck, 2 Handbooks & 2 of the Storybooks called Beneath the Moon which contains excerpts of all the tales which are the focus of each card in the deck. The artwork is vibrant & enough goes on in each image that I feel this deck will be a hit with Untuituve readers! The second set of deck & 2 books will go to my daughter who is quickly surpassing my many years of study. I collect too and have been for about 13 years or so. Interestingly enough, my handbook was bound upside down & backward!! Somehow QA missed it! Flaws like that are valuable in a collector's market and it's amazing that my collection is so vast yet this is a first for me!! I'm enchanted by the oddity of it and I honestly don't really care if I must hold the book upside down and start at the back cover to read it. There's also a puzzle available for those of you who enjoy them!! The asking price was am amaingly reasonable too. I truly believe once this is out of print, it'll become a collector's item. I pre-ordered this deck quite some time ago and am so excited to finally have it in my hands. The imagery in these cards are absolutely stunning. The box, as another reviewer mentioned, is pretty big, but it is beautiful and for anyone who wants to display it amongst their collection will welcome its grandeur (I hope). The cards themselves are printed on very sturdy cardstock (perhaps linen cardstock as someone else mentioned), and has a canvas-like texture. In my opinion, this adds to the artistic feel of the deck. The themes depicted are varying in culture, color, and beliefs. There is no singular focus, but it works so well. I appreciate the guidebook, especially for those who are newer to reading tarot. It has basic definitions of what the imagery is based on, as well as simplified versions of the tarot "meanings." I did also buy their book released simultaneously, "Beneath the Moon." I only skimmed it this morning, but each page goes much more in depth for the artwork featured in the deck. It isn't a necessary purchase, but I would imagine that reading through it could provide some more insight into these cards' meanings than just the simple explanations in the guidebook. It will also be an interesting read to learn about myths and fairytales from other cultures! I am blown away by this deck in its entirety. The only thing I could have asked to be added, which does not affect my rating due to its frivolousness, would be for colored or gilded edges rather than white. But this usually adds extra production costs and thus creates a more expensive product. The deck still holds its own with white edges :)

Firstly, I'd like to say I'm more of a tarot collector than an active practitioner (given inexperience) so please read with a lil grain of salt in mind. With that out of the way, I am in love love with this deck. Superficially, the art is astounding and colorful with vibrant depictions of a number of ethnic groups and cultures. There is no shying away from the richness of skin color and portrayal of clothes and fabrics associated with each individual group. I'm not 100% sure about how accurate the depictions are, but the inclusivity is 110% better than most mainstream, white-washed decks that one would typically find. Also, the cards (and stories associated) are LGBTQ inclusive for those looking for a little bit of that. I adore the finish of the cards because I simply have a hard time shuffling cards without a little grip (I have butter fingers). I also really like the linen texture to the cards, giving it a more multi-sense experience for me as a tactile person. For me personally, I already knew more than half of the folktales/myths/lore associated with each card, as well as simply knowing about the Raider-Waite deck in general. HOWEVER, the combination of the two makes it so much simpler for me to get a read off of. Initially, some of the associations were a little off to me, but if you really understand the point of the stories associated, it can make for a much deeper connection to the meaning of the card as a whole. But also, the whole thing is up to your interpretation--so really, it's whatever you like. That being said, it is really helpful to actually know the stories. The book associated with the cards is helpful, but unfortunately still very surface level--and it doesn't break down some cultural aspects that are tied to the stories. If you don't have a deep understanding or emotional tie for some things/concepts that aren't translated well between East vs. West, it can be confusing/feel like a wrong match. You might have to do some extra research. If you're looking for a "quick-and-easy" pretty deck that you can simply read like any other standard RWD, I don't think this is the one. If you ARE someone who appreciates lore and exploration of culture to a deeper depth of understanding and don't mind researching and looking up the information and ties to each individual culture, then I think this deck is a beautiful, multi-learning experience. Tying the stories to the cards and back really helped me learn more about both and I find that to be such a wonderful way to strengthen my appreciation and curiosity for both. TL;DR If you're a myth nerd and love tarot, you'll probably like it. If you want a sleek aesthetic deck, just be ready to do some research or you may not enjoy.

This deck speaks to my high intuition. As a new reader I wanted a deck with diversity and I am so happy I chose this one. The imagery and the folklore is riveting. It is sturdy and reliable and it feels great in my hands.

Not penalizing for this since it has both to do with the artist or publisher, but I seem to have gotten a deck that was opened and returned. The cards were not wrapped in plastic, which would be awesome if that was a choice for sustainability, but unlikely. More concerning, they look like they’ve been over shuffled with a bridge shuffle and are warped and twisted as a result. There a no creases or missing cards so I’m going to try pressing them with some heavy books. If that doesn’t work I’ll have to exchange them. I’d rather they not go to a landfill so I’ll try. Disappointed in Amazon quality control. Now - the deck itself = fantastic. The card have a linen texture and are thicker than playing cards but thin enough they should be easy to shuffle. The artwork is gorgeous and diverse. The book is nice though small. It has keywords for each suit and number at the beginning, which I appreciate and think would be great for a beginner. It also has some layouts that are not the standard. I wish the book gave a more detailed synopsis of each fable, but it does tell the country of origin, the name of the story/deity so you can use that to research them separately. Instead it uses that space for interpretation, and they are decent. I’m sure this was a decision to help keep cost down, and it’s a very affordable deck so I’m not too upset at needing to do my own research on the stories. The artwork is incredibly beautiful and manages to be diverse, representing different cultures in a positive and celebratory fashion while still maintaining a consistent style. The fables all seem to connect well to the RSW system so I expect it will be easy to read with. Just wish the cards had arrived in perfect condition, but I suppose better they land with me than get tossed. Hoping I can flatten them. If so a quick cleanse, and I’ll be happy to use them.

By far THE most beautiful deck I own! 1. The quality is AMAZING! It’s “linnen” and sturdy. Not flimsy at all. It’s feels very nice in your hands. 2. The artwork and colors are beyond beautiful. Photos don’t do them justice. 3. The little booklet comes in color AND with a little backstory about the card. 4. The box is so so beautiful, great to protect the deck. It’s good quality. 5. I got them for 17€ and free shipping. Amazes me how cheap they are for this outstanding quality. Seriously, go buy them! For this tiny price you get so so much! If you are not sure if you’ll connect with them, I’d advise you to look them up on youtube for a review. The moment I opened the package and had the box in my hand, I already connected with them. They sparkle so much joy. It’s really amazing. I always felt intimidated to do readings with the Raider Waite deck but I feel so comfy with the tarot of the Divine. They really make you feel amazing. They took 3,5 weeks to get here but it was totally worth the wait! Go buy them!! They are really worth the price and the wait too!

Cardstock quality is excellent, though I really wish it came in a more travel-friendly carrying format. The cards and the art though? My very first pull -- which then grew into a fullblown reading -- was shockingly intuitive and accurate. If the deck speaks to you, get it.

From the build of the box , the booklet describing the diff tales, the card deck ,everything about this package is top notch. From the time I opened the package I have been gobsmacked and the connection to the cards was instantaneous, just picked the cards and was blown away by the artwork & kept admiring the images for hours. Shuffling the cards is cake walk due to their Matt satin finish and they are surely a tarot readers dream.Readers with any level of proficiency will relate to the cards immediately as they give out so much food for imagination. What's the point in having rock like sturdy cards which you will hate to even use often and hence they can stay fine forever. These cards are made so well that you will find it pleasurable to handle and shuffle them,classy construction and easy to shuffle. CONS - The card deck is not guilded . The Ten of swords card has an error and the pic does not depict 10 swords ( you can overlook this for sure)
