great list!
Great little book. Although it is not comprehensive it is a great start. Given the fact that languages are living and changing, perhaps best to stick with some of the best known most used expressions, as others might change over time.It would have got five stars except for two--TWO!!!-- incidences of the misuse of it's. Shame: you should know better, and so should whoever proofread or edited this book. When used as a possessive, 'its' requires no apostrophe: 'it's' is a contraction for 'it is.' If you get confused, substitute 'it is' in the spot you want to use 'it's' and if it doesn't make sense, you do not need the apostrophe.

There are many choices of books, I'd start here
This is a fun book to pick up and put down easily. It may not be the most comprehensive, but it covers all you would hear in each region whether for your own personal knowledge or for visiting the area. The author kept it simple, yet defines slang off ALL words(didn't leave out swear words). I don't know if there is a book that covers more than this, maybe; I would imagine, but it is worth the price.

Brit Expressions Explained!
We enjoy British television programs. Lots of them are easily found on DVDs. But from time to time, some plain-sounding English sounds very foreign. This little book is the decoder for all those little British expressions that have their own American meanings.Written with a sense of humor that seems to enjoy our language differences. We’ve had a lot of fun flipping through its pages. We are glad we made the purchase. I hope this helps with your decision!---Boto

but it's nice to know exactly what it is
It was what I wanted, although I expected it to be larger. Thought there would be a lot more slang. I watch a lot of British TV shows and now I can look up the words if I don't understand their meaning. I usually know it's an insult, but it's nice to know exactly what it is.

Fun/fun/fun
This book is a great laugh and I knew some of the sayings, just not most of them. The author is very good at separating the different parts of Great Britain where these words are used. Say, if you're a fan of, "Doc Martin", he provides words used down in Cornwall and Devon, where the series is filmed. He also provides some Australian slang.............very funny!

he said she said...
at first glance, i thought the Britt's use a lot of slang. after flipping through the book i realized most of the definitions, i had never heard before. Always fun to know what people are talking about, but in the end we really don't use as much slang as is out there.

Will help me navigate Britishisms on my upcoming trip to the UK
It is often said that the UK and the U.S. are two countries divided by a common language. This book shows you why. Since I like to understand what is said to me in foreign countries, this book is a must. It includes many terms which I have not even heard on the many occasions when I have watched BBC productions on American television.

An Unusual Compact Slang Dictionary
I was disappointed in this book. The book is extremely compact. The order of words in the Dictionary is confusing and makes the user look up any single word in at least 3 places. It is not a book I would recommend. In fact, the last 6 times I have used it, the word I was searching for only appeared in the book 1 time out of 6 different words that I tried to find. It was a somewhat disappointing purchase. However, it gets a 3 star rating, because it is of recent vintage and does contain some very current British English Slang terms.

I bought it as a secret santa for an american friend and it went down pretty well with the group. She would read out a word like 'plod', then the english people said 'that means police' then she went 'haha thats right'.
