Dover Creative Haven Mehndi Designs Coloring Book (Creative Haven Coloring Books)

I am a beginner, so I am going to write what I think will be helpful to other beginners. First of all, this book is full 30 of gorgeous designs printed on only one side of nice quality paper. The paper is perforated, and makes it easy to tear out the pages cleanly. The first thing I learned was to keep the original, and make copies to color in case you screw one up! :) No harm done, though, I was able to salvage my original anyway. I had a brand new ream of card stock, and found this works nicely to copy on to. Second, I started off using a set of 50 Crayola Supertips Washable Markers because that's what I already had on hand. While these have a fairly fine tip, it is not fine enough for this type of coloring, plus water based markers show the stroke marks too much for my taste. Since I was unable to afford the alcohol based makers another reviewer recommended, I have decided to try my hand with colored pencils. I perused the reviews, and ordered a set of 50 by Prang that someone had commented were pretty good, and only cost me $11.00 plus about another $7.00 for the highest rated manual pencil sharpener. ( I don't have these yet ) I have also gone to my local Walmart to invest in some inexpensive watercolors, a set of paint brushes, and some watercolor paper to see how these designs may come out in that medium. Not having my new pencils didn't slow me down, since I can make copies, I just colored with markers first enjoying it even with the stroke marks and challenge of "too fat" markers. Over all, the book is excellent! There are only a couple of designs I don't care for. I can see myself doing some of these at least 2-3 times!

This book is my new favorite! The designs in this book are just stunning. This is great for art therapy/stress reduction or just plain fun. The high quality pages have beautiful intricate designs and are perfect for coloring with anything including some markers. I personally tear the page out of the book before use. If using marker check first to see if they bleed through, if so I recommend placing something between pages to prevent it. Book has 30 different drawings and pages are one sided and perforated. This book was delivered quickly and is a great value for the price. It is a really beautiful book and would make a lovely gift. I will definitely buy more and highly recommend!

This is an awesome coloring book especially for the price. The pages are thicker than printer paper and you can use markers or colored pencils with no issues. The designs are very intricate and fun to color. Each page is perforated so you an easily pull it out to color.These designs are very detailed, so only buy if you are up for a challenge. Relaxing, but does allow for some critical thought to make the picture look fabulous and symmetrical.

I rated this four stars because the color can bleed through on pages and the paper is not too thick. I rate it 5 stars for the designs and their variety. The pages are laid out nicely for framing and the images are only on one side of the page. It is a good value for the cost. I recommend removing the pages before coloring so you don't have to worry about bleed through. I would not recommend this for watercolor pencils as the paper is not that thick, but it works well for colored pencils. I would recommend a student/artist grade pencil or higher to get a good effect.In the first picture I started out with inexpensive no name pencils I purchased at a big box store and then used Gallery pencils (these seem to be branded many names). The effect created a waxy build up (see picture with girl in the middle) and the blending was not great. I switched to the Marco Raffine colored pencils, which are great for my purposes. They are vibrant, lay down great color and blend well (see picture with the butterfly). I am still working on the butterfly, but you can see the bleed through on the back of the page in front.If you want to try out coloring Mehdi designs, but not sure you want to commit to this hobby, this is a great book to get started with.

I received a couple Creative Haven books for my birthday back in October...and this one is my favorite still! I keep this book open on my desk and when I need a moment or a break, I color a small section of a pretty design. While this book has intricate designs, they are not too challenging. And the more pages you do, you'll start to see patterns repeat but done creatively as not to bore you. Hours of coloring to be done here with unlimited color options. Highly recommended! I'll be buying more of these types of books very soon.

I love Dover Creative Haven books. I love the thick paper and that the designs are only on one side, plus the pages tear out so easily.I love this one. The pics are pretty simple, and perfect for when I don't feel like doing a billion details. I also love the pattern-ness of the pics in this one. I can go through with one color and do all of the repeats at once. These are great designs to work on while you're watching tv or listening to an audio book or just not wanting to give 100% attention to what you're doing.

While doing what I call my (winter stock up) of art supplies to get me through the drab and gloomy days. I chose to look at this Mehndi Designs coloring book because all bright color on cover drew my eyes to it.I love coloring, as a relaxing hobby, having done a lot of holiday themed and mandala coloring as of late I was looking for something different for me to try.These designs were the perfect combination of the familiar and new elements with animals, flowers , people, and paisley designs. While also enjoy the unfamiliar traditional patterns included in this book.I used several media choices in this book. BIC Mark-it Permanent Markers and BIC Mark It Fine Line Markers and various gel pens.Overall: I really have enjoyed this book . I found the experience uplifting and encouraging to explore art from different cultures. I would recommend this book to others.

The media could not be loaded. As figuras são muito bonitas. As folhas não são grossas, porém não há desenhos no verso, então dá para usar canetinha.

Good book

Un petit recueil qui m'a séduit dès que j'ai commencé le coloriage.....Et que je vais racheter, ma "technique" ayant évolué au cours de ces 3 dernières années.....Le graphisme est très joli. Le plus difficile est de choisir la première teinte ..... ensuite, il suffit de se laisser porter.....Idéal pour se relaxer

I absolutely love Creative Haven books. Having only one pic per page, and they are all perforated so they can easily be torn out from the book, is the best! This is my second Creative Haven book and it wont be my last.

This is one of the loveliest books to colour in. It is perforated down the inside of each page so you can easily either tear or cut the picture out and colour it in. This is much easier than trying to colour in and hold the book down with one hand. The person who designed this book was very thoughtful. Also the one side in blank so you are not ruining a picture on the other side. It is crammed full of amazing designs that will take ages to complete. I find it good for relaxing and getting quiet time to reflect on things. I love how peaceful it is to colour in. You can get lost in thought in this book. The designs or ornate, intricate, complicated, intriguing and generally lovely. I use copic markers for colouring in but recently have been experimenting with coloured pencils since the craze has taken off in the past year there are so many more varieties of pencils and books available.I am happy to recommend this book and it is certainly up there with one of the nicest I have.I have added some photographs for your convenience.
