Got my QHD (2650x1600) monitor working with Dell Alienware laptop!
UPDATE: 2 years in I bought another one of these for another laptop, and found the ethernet worked there. Went back to my original setup and got it working there also. Restored the one star I had taken off! Not sure what changed, but probably something in Windoze or Dell drivers. Alienware and Inspiron both work with external monitors, mouse, keyboard, and ethernet coming to the laptop via USB-A.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I have a beautiful Dell U3011 monitor that has more pixels than my new Alienware 17" laptop... but the HDMI connection to it will only run at 1900 pixels wide (vs the native 2650 pixels of both the laptop and the external monitor). I tried an Amazon Basics HDMI/DVI cable, but even tho advertised as Dual Link it only supported 1200 pixels wide! Oops. The Kensington, however, plugged into the laptop's USB 3 port and let me plug a DisplayPort cable from the dock to the monitor without any fuss. No drivers to install, no configuration to do. Oddly, my Nvidia graphics card doesn't think the external monitor even exists, but Windows settings allow me to independently duplicate or extend the display with the same or different resolution on the two displays.I plugged my old USB 2 hub into one of the Kensington's ports and everything just worked: mouse, keyboard, scanner, printer. External speakers work great plugged into the headphone jack, so removing my laptop involves unplugging power, Ethernet, and one USB plug.I knocked off one star ONLY because the Ethernet port doesn't work and there appears to be NO information on how to configure anything. Kensington's website has a downloadable .exe file on their resource page, but no clue as to what it might do. Windows doesn't allow me to update the driver either (button is grayed out, which I 've never seen before).

Does not work.
HDMI does not work: I plugged the cables including a HDMI cable from the docking station to my 4K monitor. and there is no signal. At the price I paid for this docking station it should work out of the box without having to google or call for support. Called customer support and they close at 5pm eastern time. Not everyone lives on the east cost - for some of us its 2 pm and you are close. Bad management policy toward customer service. Bad experience.

This docking station works great, only needed 1 USB port my ultrabook to connect with an external monitor, hardwired internet connection to the switch, head phones, external disk drive, and USB keyboard.

Great purchase. High quality. A few things to be aware of.
I love it. I use it with two 1080p monitors - one HDMI and the other with a DVI-HDMI cable, and the video is responsive. I'm glad I bought it, but there are a few things to be aware of. On my work laptop (Lenovo E555), I have to leave the docking station unplugged until the laptop is on and I am logged in. If it is plugged in when it boots, nothing appears on any screen. On my personal laptop (Lenovo Edge 2), it works fine all the time. If I plug my headphones with an inline microphone into the headphone jack, I get poor audio in only the left ear. I have not noticed this to be normal on other devices. For regular speakers, it works much better plugged into the docking station than to try to use the audio out plug on your monitor. Again, it was a great purchase. I'm not sorry I got it. I went from 4-5 cables to two. The video, internet, keyboard and mouse responsiveness, etc. all work great.

Absolute garbage.
UPATED 1/29/16*I was right, Kensington's quality control gets a 0 out of 10. THE replacement's video output only works when it feels like it now, hasn't been a damn month since i got this replacement, what kind of a sick joke is this? "List Price: $229.99" are you out of your minds ?Never in my life i felt this much disappointment with a purchase.EDIT*Got the replacement, and have been using it for 5 days, thankfully, this one works as intended, no screen blackouts, video output very stable, no complaints as of now. 4/5 because i'm worried about kensington's quality control.Monitor : HD LED 1080p TV monitorLaptop: Intel i7-GPU: GTX980mSo the problem here is the HDMI output, knowing that i'm using the minimum setting 1920x1080 (didnt even get my 4k monitor YET) with high spec laptop.Moving on; the hdmi output was a bit of a disaster, randomly disconnects, random 0.5 sec. color statics and blackouts, i have a lower spec usb-hdmi output that worked even better. I really hope this is a faulty product and this wont happen again when i get a replacement.Just so you know i only used simple function apps, i'm well aware that this product isnt supposed to support graphic hungry 3D applications (like games for an example)Will edit once i test the replacement .

It works ok but I bought it to use with a CAD computer and apparently there are now valid drives that work with the CAD program. I does work as described for everything else.

Easy to use with Windows 10 Pro 1909
just plug and play, the screen flicked 3 times, but that because Windows driver auto update, and stable after that. It's very hard to find the docking station with both DVI-I and full-size DP port nowadays. Other portable USB C hub doesn't have DP port and support only mirror screens, while this one does "extended monitors"It doesn't have SD card reader or VGA port, and it doesn't charge laptop as new USB-C hub.

Display DOWNSHIFTs to the lowest common resolution.
With dual monitors, one supporting 2560 x 1080 (on HDMI) and the other supporting 1920 x 1080 (on DVI), I was expecting max. resolution. After plugging in this dock, both to work on the highest resolution, instead the dock, switched both to 1920 x 1080 (HDMI) and 1920 x 1080 (DVI).Nowhere in the manual or their website do they call out this resolution downshift!Might be a better choice to buy two low-cost USB 3 display adapters and cascade them.
