The Best FileMaker API Reference on the Market
As with the printed book, the eBook also comes with all the example files that are contained in the book. You don't have to worry about copy/paste from the eBook. The samples files are what you want to copy/paste from since the code is validated to work. Copy/paste from a PDF can also potentially throw in extra characters, spaces, carriage returns, and it could actually miss entire words. Copy/paste from PDf is not perfect all the time. It could lead to your code being broken and many hours of troubleshooting. You should always copy/paste the code from the included sample files. Yes, the passcode to the ebook is very strong to limit copyright infringement and theft. I recommend that you name the ebook the same as the passcode so you don't forget it. If you do forget it the author will be happy to send you a reminder email with the passcode. The ebook is not sold through Amazon. You have to buy it direct from the author at at his website.

Excellent and detailed source for putting FileMaker and PHP together
What I really like about this book is that it is full of detailed explanations and examples. The sample codes are extensively commented, so it is hard to get lost. This makes it easy for somebody who is fairly new to PHP to develop an own PHP based FileMaker solution. It seems that the author knows very well where the pitfalls and hidden traps are, and he lets the reader know where to be especially careful. This is in particular important, as FileMaker doesn't explain too well how FileMaker API for PHP actually works. Also highly appreciated is that the book does not just explain mere PHP coding, you find lots of suggestions regarding what is around PHP: Where to find additional sources, which tools to use, how to start your PHP project and more. You get a good portion of advice, so that your PHP project won't turn into a maze.To get the most out of this book, you should have a basic understanding of PHP (and of HTML), and you should have at least played with it for a little while. (If you are all new to PHP: The book points out sources where to get the needed lessons.)If you want to learn how to put FileMaker and PHP together, and if you want to really understand what is going on, then this book is right for you. It helped me to create professional PHP sites and to adjust them to what I exactly needed. I can highly recommend it. polarpro

The Best FM PHP Reference
Had the earlier version and had to purchase this one as soon as it came out. I own every FM PHP book out there and like this one the best by far. Was able to program PHP pages that linked to my database with very little knowledge of web programming. Then hired a web developer to take my code and make it look pretty.Without a background in HTML or PHP I found it very confusing to get started until I purchased this book. It is a very thorough reference that made it easy to understand how it all works while providing a great amount of detail at the same time. Not sure why Filemaker hasn't been pushing this book. Makes the whole Filemaker/Web thing much easier to understand.

gets you going on FM<>PHP within a week
This book, along with the downloaded sample files, has been just so extremely helpful that I am nothing less than euphoric about it. Me, being able to design a web interface for my FileMaker solution? That used to be just a faint dream out there on the horizon. Now it is a reality, in the sense that I have all the basic processes set up and running and am getting acquainted better and better with this programming environment. The book's hands-on style of presenting the issues, oriented at the beginner's perspective of ignorance, but at the same time with a clear view of getting concrete tasks done is helpful and fun to work with. The selection of presented topics I find well balanced: all the basics are covered and some very useful little extras such as alternating the colors in table rows, check boxes etc.Nice job, Todd! Thanks so much for this book, it has opened doors for me.
