Airship Blues - Follow-up Review
I had previously written a review on this ROKR Airship model and given it a 3-star rating. My main issues with the model were its thin pieces and the inability to connect tabs to slots securely because minimal pressure caused breakage. With that said, I am giving a new 5-star review for one simple reason - upon receiving my review, ROKR reached out and provided a full refund! They were sincerely concerned about my dissatisfaction and wanted to try and keep me as a future customer. They have certainly done so! This ROKR model is the only one with which I have had any problems and I have purchased and built many of them. Their approach to customer service is much appreciated! Any model builder will run into one project that has problems. It’s what the company does to remedy the problem that counts - ROKR stepped up!

A sorta steam punk airship
Thiis is, in my opinion, not a kit for kids. It takes time and patience. Some parts don't exactly fit well and need a bit of sanding. It does not need glue-things fit together but, I have built 3 of these laser-cut airships and do glue joints with wood glue to stiffen the connections. Parts need pre painting since they are a lot of them that won't be easily painted after assembly. Instruction sheets are pretty clear, but prefit parts and see if that is the right place. I could go on and this kit is a bit like a jigsaw puzzle, but it was really fun, before and after assembly. NOTE: I am going to experiment with partially covering one of these and see if it is more believable. Actually, I just like fiddling with these kits.

The last step is difficult.
For the most part this model is ok. Parts went together easily and one part that broke had a spare. However, the last step is difficult and I broke 2 parts, Thank God for super glue.

Not for beginners
Great puzzle, but recommend having superglue handy to fix pieces that break if they’re pushed too hard. There are some (not all) duplicate pieces, which is nice as backup, or for decorating other projects. I also had to glue some of the panel pieces in because they kept popping off, but that might be user error. I used needle-nose pliers to apply pressure to the joins that I couldn’t reach with my fingers. The prop spins, which the kids liked. The piece numbering is clear and correct. The picture assembly guide was very easy to follow. Kids are happy with the final result, which is exactly as advertised.

Grandson really like it
A Christmas gift for my grandson. Very pleased with the way he started to work on as soon as he opened it. Grandma and Amazon did good.

It was okay
This ended up being a pretty cute activity that I enjoyed, but it wasn't quite 5 stars. Pieces broke VERY easily. There were some pieces that they gave extras of and surprisingly, I didn't need them. The big pieces were the ones that broke. I had to use some glue on a lot of pieces because the most important pieces kept breaking. The pieces are not super easy to snap together so it is sturdy, but I don't think this would be good for kids. It takes too much force and pieces break too easily for kids.

I love the little airship!
This little airship has a steampunk feel that gets lots of raves. I is not hard to build BUT the wood is thin and you must use caution when flexing it. It helped to gentle sand the ends to make construction less stressed. I broke two struts through use of too much force, but fixed them with White glue-all glue. I like it so much I may make a few more and hang the fleet from my ceiling.
