This Sugar Free Black Licorice tastes like the sugared kind!

Very disappointed in my favorite snack
I'm very fond of black licorice and a dedicated Red Vines fan. When I saw sugar-free Black Licorice Red Vines, I was sold and could hardly wait to have some. The first time I ordered it, I was delighted with it. Recently I decided to order more and there was a delay in shipping, but I wasn't concerned. However, when my pkg finally arrived and I opened the bag, I was dismayed to find the licorice twists all broken up and shredded. I opened the other bag, thinking the first was banged up in shipping perhaps, but the contents of the second bag were in the same condition. They look fine, but as soon as you pick one up, it falls apart in your fingers. It's not a matter of dryness as they are still soft and moist. I've always preferred Red Vines and had never encountered this situation in my entire life, and I'm 76 y/o! I won't order from the competition, because I've always found their product tastes very waxy. So maybe this is just a one-time thing, but it'll be a very long time if I order again. I'll eat this black licorice in bits and shreds, but it may be my last.

Pricey, dissolve quickly unless air cure. Measuring glucose to determine their carb effect.
These dissolve in 30 seconds; boo, hiss. They have about 60% of the anise punch of their real sugar version. Not to mention very high in price. They, like their supposedly less healthy sugar version, are addictive ... to folks who like anise or maybe its just me. High in carbs, checking blood glucose to see how alcohol-sugars and other (unlisted) carbs affect my levels.Just like the other version, I will attempt to dry some of these out and see if they harden with months of patient waiting. The sugar version become somewhat tough and dissolve much slower; lasting longer.Update: Upgrade to 4 Stars. It only took three weeks for these to stiffen. Not as tough as aged sugar version, but raises the time to dissolve from seconds into a few minutes, for me. A significant improvement. I keep forgetting to measure glucose before and after.

Texture
The licorice was brittle and dried out so most of it was crumbled and if you picked it up, it broke. However, it was tasty licorice I don’t know if it was stale or whatever but you expect a pliable softer. Licorice not a brittle one.
