If you're on a budget this stuff works just fine. The outer sheathing is a bit flimsy and the pairs themselves are slightly more brittle feeling since it's not pure copper, it still all went together fine for my POE Camera system I installed, no issues. If you're trying to save a few bucks, this stuff is fine, just be warned it's not as high quality as the "premium" stuff.Side note: I do believe this wire might not be suitable for super long POE runs. All mine were under 100ft and work flawlessly.

Copper-Clad Aluminum is controversial in the networking community, but the price is difficult to beat for the weekend DiY warrior. It is 24 gauge, whereas cheap copper cable is often 26 gauge, so in terms of resistance alone it's likely better then, or at least on-par with, the cheap copper Cat5e cable. The box does list TIA certification on it, even though the listing states otherwise, so who knows what the deal with that is.From an electrical engineering standpoint, there is no reason why CCA wire should be inherently inferior to pure copper when it comes to carrying baseband information signals. The slightly higher resistance really shouldn't come into play until you exceed the maximum specified run length.There is honestly no good reason why the various governing bodies which define these specifications could not put this entire debate to rest by releasing an addendum for CCA cable. The biggest concern is honestly lower tensile strength while making awkward runs.Anyway, I pulled two runs with this so far inside of a finished split-level house. The runs were from the basement to the living room area, and fishing the cable through closets and behind walls was a huge PITA. There were a few times when I kinked the wire pretty good while pulling it through a tight space, and I assume this would have snapped some wires, but everything worked out alright in the end - 1000baseT test pass without any issue. The total run length was probably 25m or so, and I will be running cable up to the bedrooms next.I did have some concerns about CCA cable when I first bought it, but those concerns proved unfounded. It works just fine, and seems sufficiently durable as well. You will not be disappointed with this product.

Great stff BUT the boxes when arrived WELL DIFFERENT STORY. NOT their fault but needs to let some one that they need to be more careful with items like this.GOOD PRODUCT AND GOOD PRICEDELIVERY SUCKS

I have wired up my house, my in-laws, my parents and my brother-in-law's house with this wire. The cables are thick, easy to run, at the same time it's very flexible. I've never had any problems with their ability including the fact that I run a couple of these under the house in the crawl space. I don't see this being a problem in terms of durability. I have even ran some outside to power some Christmas controllers that run Christmas lights. I can tell that the sun did fade some of this but it's only out for a month at a time so I don't see that being a problem. It does give me over two and a half gigs at my house. I would highly recommend for the price.

This was exactly what I was hoping it would be. Sure it's clad as others have pointed out but that's why it's rated cat5 and not 6. The cable is good quality for what it is. I've found no breaks, kink's, or deficiencies in the strands. I sell internet dependent hardware and have found that my customers expect me to come with everything needed including networking cables. In the past I've just run to the nearest store and purchased the most affordable option I found, paying anywhere from 10 to 15 each and often having to buy longer cables than needed because of the limited availability of a corner store in SF. Now I can make the patch cables to order and at this price I don't have to think twice about giving them away. What's more is I've done a few longer runs where I would have had to order a cable at much higher cost but with this I'm able to just get it done on the spot and move on. My customers are impressed as nobody in my industry delivers this type of custom service, I'm pleased with the huge savings, and my devices work reliably fast on every installation I've done. When I run through this box I'll definitely return for more!

I used this cable for a video security system with Balun adaptors without any problems. The longest run is 80 ft+, and compared to a shorter run with more expensive heavier duty cable (say 10 ft), I saw no degradation in video quality. Although not a heavy duty cable, this product survived many abuses during installation due to my inexperience.The other advantage of being light duty is that the cable is thinner (low price is the first advantage), so that I was able to pull 4 of these easily through a 1/2 steel conduit. Also, because I'm protecting the cable in metal conduits, I didn't need the heavier duty and more expensive cable. The inner twisted pairs were clearly marked and it wasn't difficult to sort out the colors for crimping on the Cat5 connectors (see my review on the crimper). The inner twisted pair wires looked identical to a heavier duty cable.The box comes with a nice plastic cable outlet/cable keeper that I find useful. The cable did get stuck several times as I pulled it out, but I just cut the box open to untangle the knot, so it was no big deal.500 feet of good Cat5e cable for under $30; that's a 5 star from me.

The description of this product is misleading and potentially false advertising. You cannot call a cable that is not pure copper a CAT5e cable. PERIOD. Bought 3 of these thinking wow good price, good price indeed if this was a genuine product. Returning 2 unused boxes of cable. Forced to keep the 3rd box which I did make a 50 foot cables out of.The Dangers of Using CCA CablesThe performance and safety of CCA cables are radically different. In fact, aluminum network cables violate TIA and IEC standards for Cat5e and Cat6 cables.Aluminum patch cables, often marked as CCA or CCE (for Copper Clad Ethernet), has higher attenuation than pure copper cables. This results in a greater loss of data, as packets have to be re-transmitted. The more data that is re-transmitted, the slower your network performs. Plus, these problems are compounded by every foot of cable you use; the longer the cable, the worse the performance. Is the hit in network performance worth saving a few cents?CCA cables also have a 55% higher DC resistance. This increases the amount of energy that is transferred into heat and reduces the amount of power that can be transferred. This issue makes them unusable for power over Ethernet (PoE).These cut corners also affect installers because aluminum wire creates installation issues. Due to the lower tensile strength, aluminum cables can be damaged when being pulled. Single conductors can break, making the cable useless, or the whole cable can snap. Aluminum also has a lower bend radius than pure copper cables. This means you can’t bend it as much before it fails. In short, copper clad cables are more fragile than pure copper cables.

I needed to run about 150 feet from inside the house and into the back yard to hook up a wifi mesh access point. For the price, this was the best deal that I could find to get a relatively small amount of wire to do the job. I could have purchased a 1000' coil for about $20 more but 850' of wire would be sitting around my house forever. I found the casing on the wire to be of decent quality and the twisted pair wires were also brightly colored making it easy to distinguish gw/g pairing etc. Other wire I have used in the past had such pale coloring such that it was near impossible to tell which one was the white coded one. The casing on the wire was actually stronger and more pliable than I expected. It also has UV protection so it should do fine outdoors. I did put it in conduit where I could and where it would be most susceptible to exposure. I am not anticipating any issues. I have used cat5e outdoors before without issue. I have no issues with it being copper clad aluminum and really, you could not tell. If you are using it for network cabling, you have to reason to be exposing bare wire anyway. It crimped to RJ45's just fine.

Has been a good product. Through most of the roll now and no defects.

El cable cumple la función, solo que se tiene que tener sumo cuidado al sacarlo de la caja ya que es frágil y si lo doblas se lastima o rompe, en general costo beneficio OK, pero si deseas mejor performance para transmision de video mejor buscar algo de calidad superior.

Not the right colour for my scheme but worth it for the savings. Good quality wire and thick jacketing. Perfect for home networking or interior CCTV POE cameras.
