This entry into the Philadelphia Phillies history library is a loosely structured series of stories, ruminations and first person observations from Larry Shenk the long time PR publicist for the club. Shenk, who along with former broadcaster Chris Wheeler, is one of the club's "lifers," those who have spent the vast majority of their careers with the Phillies and who have witnessed the ups an downs of the club over the last 40+ years. Actually longer for Shenk, who joined the club in 1964 - a year that wound up perhaps the darkest in club history.The biggest takeaway theme of the Shenk book, all the more relevant given the struggles of the current iteration of the Phillies, is the critical importance of the scouting and player development functions, an aspect the Phillies struggle with currently, but has been the foundation of their success in the pennant years of the late 70s and early 2000's.But for those of us who are life members of Phillies nation, those fans who have suffered with and celebrated this team over the years, Shenk gives us many insider stories and anecdotes that provide color and perspective on what we witnessed from the stands. If These Walls Could Talk is a solid addition to your Phillies library.

Great read! Lots of great stories that even more seasoned Phillies fans might not have heard of or maybe had forgotten. Truly worth the time!

Gave this to my 90 year old Dad, an avid Phillies fan for over 50 years, who never reads a book. But he's reading this one!

Loved the funny back stories of the Phillies by one who knows them intimately. Larry Shenk knows more Phillie lore and stories than anyone alive.
