Canât believe!
I canât believe that something so simple works so well!I just started wearing scleral contacts 10 days ago and insertion was extremely difficult, sometimes impossible. It took on average 15 attempts for each eye with the tall plunger I received from the optometrist. In desperation I searched Amazon and found this simple gadget. I couldnât believe that the lenses went in on the first try!The way I use it is pretty much like the instructions, hold the devise along the index finger with the suction cup over the tip if the finger. Then I use the middle finger of that hand to pull down the lower lid and the other hand to raise the upper lid. The only tricky part is to get the middle finger on the lower lid without tipping the cup causing the lens to fall off the cup.

CHIO - Contact lens tool - LOVE IT!!!
I have been wearing a scleral lens (RGP) left eye since 2018 and I had to invent an easy way to insert lens as using my hand to hold plunger was not easy to do. I started to use my tweezers to hold the plunger and most of my eye doctors were impressed with my invention. But needless to say it was not easy to master. Now, I have to wear a scleral on my right eye and trying to use my invention with left hand very difficult I saw the CHIO on Amazon and decided to try it. I love it!!! Easy to hold, my RGP scleral sits very nice on the low profile red plunger. Easy to use with left or right hand. Retired the big DMV plunger and tweezers. Now for the life of me I struggle to use the CHIO to remove my scelral it does not have the suction I may be doing something wrong. I just use my small DMV remover and use the chio to insert. For me this product is worth it just for the insertion alone.

Donât waste your money
There are better scleral lens applicators such as the plain blue ones. The suction on this apparatus is terrible and cannot hold my hard sclerals. The applicator is very odd to hold even when following directions.

Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda
Good idea, but poorly executed, IMO. The inserter cup is tiny, just a bit larger than a removal tool cup. A regular-sized sclera inserter cup would have made this terrific. A regular inserter can not be cut and mounted on this due to size differences. My sclera lens kept falling off because it balanced poorly on the small cup. This is 2023 and this was packaged in 2020 and while the basic tool probably would last a lifetime, I know that the cup material has a limited shelf life. There are NO replacement cups, so if you were to like it, every time you want to replace the cup, you'll have to buy the complete thing again, instead of say a pack of 5. The shape of this tool is absolutely terrific, if only... I tried this for about a week with less insertion success rate than regular means. I've gone back to the regular old way.

Installed sclerals. Worked on the first attempt.
For the past two years I have worn scleral lenses. My vision was 20/30 and 20/40 when corrected with corneal lenses, but with sclerals I can get 20/20 in one eye and 20/25 in the other. Well worth making the change, but sclerals are a real hassle to install.A scleral lens will not perch on your fingertip like a corneal lens. Takes two or three fingers or one of various available suction devices.I normally use a tabletop device and the installation process takes about 10 minutes.I purchased this handheld device in the hope it would enable me to make quick lens installations in airports.Having used it once, I am now hopeful I can now use it to install the lenses everyday. Worked the first time. Quick and easy, less than a minute per lens, no guesswork and no bubbles. It creates and a nice reverse arc in you index finger and, with a small cup, holds the scleral lens. Using it is almost like the old, one finger installation that worked so well for corneal lenses.Have not tried it for lens removal but that is already a solved problem anyway. Delighted to discover this quick, positive, and well controlled method for scleral lens installation.
