My bedroom door is now soundproof
I bought this to soundproof my bedroom door, and holy cow it actually worked. I had previously added weatherstripping and a sweeper, which did cut down on noise a little bit, but clearly a lot of sound was still traveling straight through the hollow-core door.Covering the back of the door with this vinyl made a world of difference. I can't give you exact decibel reduction numbers, but I can say I went from being able to hear normal-volume conversations in the kitchen, without straining my ears, to barely being able to hear them. I spooked my roommate the other day when I came out of my room, because she thought I wasn't home, despite my having been in a zoom call for the last hour. This stuff *works*.I attached this to my door with double-sided mounting tape, since I wanted to be able to remove it without damaging the door (the paintjob is a goner, but that's acceptable). The process was fairly easy, and took about 3 hours start to finish. The vinyl cuts super easy with a utility knife. The cliff notes for the process are:1. remove door knob2. take door off hinges (unscrew the hinges from the doorframe, not the hinges from the door)3. roll out sheet of vinyl on top of door4. overhang two edges slightly, so that when you're done the vinyl will extend to cover the gap between the door and the doorframe5. cut with a utility knife, using the other two edges of the door as your guide6. adjust vinyl so it overhangs the edges how you want it6b. cut out space for the hinges7. carefully (so as to not shift its position) roll back one end of vinyl about a foot or two, and apply double sided tape. The tape should run flush with the edge of the door. I installed some tape on the interior as well, for added support8. roll the vinyl back onto the tape, and then roll up from the other end until you reach the part you just taped down9. add the tape to the rest of the door10. roll the vinyl down and run something over it to press it firmly into the tape11. cut out the doorknob hole12. remount door and doorknob13. trim overhang as needed14. bask in the sound of silence

Didn't work as well as I was hoping it would
We bought a new Whirlpool refrigerator that is very noisy. We are on our 2nd one, and it is as noisy as the first one was. Aside from the noise, we really like the refrigerator, so I was hoping to find a way to dampen the compressor noise. I got the 5 pack of MLV sheets and built a little house around the compressor with the ends open for air to still cool it. It reduced the compressor noise by about 30%, and would have been more effective if I could have sealed it completely. So I can say that this stuff really does work. Unfortunately we now realize that fan in the freezer is also very noisy, so, it looks like we are going to have to get a different brand of refrigerator anyway.

Never heard of MLV but it works well!
We have two bedrooms next to each other with just studs and Sheetrock (zero insulation) separating them. This seemed like the easiest solution until I received the MLV. FedEx guy gave up and left it half up my driveway. Good Lawd it is heavy and awkward as it gets to install. I was solo and it was one of the most difficult tasks I’ve ever done. I may have stretched it because it would not lay flat once on the wall. I cut it easily with a razor knife and used thick rubber HVAC tape on the seems, so it would lay flat. I put Shiplap over the MLV and the sound transmission is down about 75%.. that is my perception anyway. Cool stuff but have at least one other person there.

Way too expensive, but good
The roll is very small, it doesn't worth this much money for this little of a material. However, the quality is awesome, vinyl is 2.5mm thick (that's 1/10 of an inch, my imperial friends) and is so heavy I had to ask my wife to help me because I wasn't able to hold it for long, even with both hands. It does absorb vibrations extremely well. Couple of layers of this stuff and I can't hear 70 dBA karaoke that is happening on the other side. And I am complete opposite of being deaf, my hearing is so perfect I can hear dust settling on a floor. And I very much love the sound of dust settling on my floor.I am also very sensitive to sounds (psychologically speaking) and this thing is probably saved my life. So, expensive or not, it was worth it.

No issues with chemical smell for the 1' x 1'. Great for keyboard case foam!
The media could not be loaded. I'm currently driving a kbd67 lite with Gateron CJ's, Kbdfans cement cherry keycaps, and tx stabs. Using mlv as case foam made the sound noticeably deeper and even a bit punchier. In fact, I did the tempest tape mod, but after taking it out, the sound got deeper (I'm assuming this is because the sound couldn't reach the mlv with the tape there) and maintained the transient heavy sound you get from using tape. I almost didn't buy this due to other comments saying there is a chemical smell, but that wasn't present on the smaller 1' x 1' size. It's a green flag to get this from me!

Not helpful for my situation
I used this to keep out the neighbors loud voices next door to me. I tacked them on the wall, but did not use glue. If I used glue it would ruin the wall. I only used one layer, and also covered over it with foam mattress topper and blanket. There was no change in sound. Mind you, we have very thin walls in our apartment, but there was no change even after all of that

Not flexible enough for a vehicle
This product was far stiffer than any other MLV I've used for a vehicle, which is a challenging place to install. The wheel wells and spare tire area were particularly difficult and required many pieces glued and slits. I have yet to reinstall the interior, but I have to replace some sections with some more flexible MLV to get it to go back together.

Used for keyboard dampening - Excellent!
I picked up a sheet of this as sound-dampening filler for my Keychron K8 keyboard and it definitely made a noticeable difference! It gave my keyboard a deeper, "thockier" sound profile and absorbed a lot of the hollow "pinging" noise some keyboards have.
