This lens hood must be a Collectors Item!
This item came in black, as ordered and the printing on the outside was crisp with no smudges whatsoever. It does fit on the lens for which it is designed, and I have been unable to detect any pinholes so it does appear to be 100% functional for its stated purpose. At its purchase price of over $18, I have to think that this item may be a Collectors Item, as a normal lens hood (it seems to me) would have been included with the lens itself or sold for a reasonable price--maybe $10 or so. This being the case I am going to try and acquire more of these lens hoods, looking forward to the day when my Collection's value will enable me to buy that island in the Caribbean I have been thinking about.

Pricey But It Fits and Works Well
After recently buying my wife an Olympus PEN E-PL8 camera with 14-40 zoom lens she wanted something more robust to photograph birds. I then bought her an Olympus 40-150mm f4.0-5.6 lens, which is a remarkable value, but shooting toward the sun with it can cause internal reflections, producing poor results. Since a hood is not included with the purchase of that telephoto lens, I debated buying a cheaper third-party hood but finally decided that the savings weren't great enough to avoid the Olympus brand. The hood is well made, fits the lens perfectly and solves the light reflection problems but the price seems a bit high.

Works as it should but should have been included with the lens.
Does what is should, but took off two stars for plastic construction and fact that I had to buy it separately in addition to buying the lens. Pros: Fits well on the lens with a solid twist. Easily reverses on camera to store out of the way. Definitely cuts down on extraneous light/flare issues. Cons: Plastic construction. Should have come with the lens.

Fit perfectly
I'm dusting off some of my MFT lenses. I was getting ready to sell them all then I thought to myself "why not just get a lovely new G9 instead of getting ripped of by letting go of some nice glass." So I did. I upgraded my camera body and dusted off some old and neglected lenses. Wow this Olympus 40-150 is an absolute beauty. I noticed that there was some significant flair though, that's where this lens hood fits in. I got next day deleliver. It's very affordable considering it's and OEM product. It snaps right into place and the length is substantial enough to prevent lens flair. This product is a 10/10. If anything ever happened to it I'd quickly buy again. I highly recommend.

Good fit, performs as expected.
Fits tight. Decent plastic. Ive tried a few 3rd party hoods in the past and its always hit or miss on the fitting. The recent price drop for this hood is nice because previously when it was going for $25 dollars you think they would use black felt inside the hood instead of the plastic ridges they decided to use, but it works decent enough. I do agree lens companies should start just including these items with the original lens as it wouldn't cost much of anything. These plastic hoods are not expensive to make. Just seems greedy to me, though I understand many photographers do not use lens shades (even though they should)

Excellent hood!
I needed a hood for my 40-150 oly zoom lens and this fit the bill. No issues whatsoever. Price is a bit higher than generic but not by much. Totally worth the extra few bucks.

Perfect!!
Fits and works perfectly. I always go OEM whenever I can. I just wish Olympus provided these hoods when you buy the lens. Shouldn't have purchase separately. Not a horrible price though.

Hood is okay — but what's wrong with Olympus?
I LOVE my Olympus OM-D E-M1. I love the Olympus 45mm f1.8 lens. I'm looking forward to getting more Olympus lenses in the future. The 40-150 lens is not a pro lens and the best I can say is that I "like" it. But I emphatically do NOT like having to buy a lens hood for it separately. What is wrong with Olympus? Charge a dollar more for the lens and include a lens. Panasonic, Sigma, heck even ROKINON manage to include hoods (and often carrying bags) with their lenses. Why on earth doesn't Olympus? Rated the hood 5 stars because, well, it does its job satisfactorily. My complaint isn't with the hood. It's with the fact that I had to waste time buying this separately.
