Simple but Great
ThinkFun Knot So FastAfter learning to tie his shoes my son decided he wanted to tie everything. He was frustrated when his efforts either wouldn't stay tied or just made a knotted mess. So Santa got him this game for Christmas and now he goes and gets a card and ties a knot from the picture. He is ADHD but was able to sit and focus on tying several different knots. It seemed to give him some confidence to have control over the rope and make it do his bidding. When he gets bigger we'll try the timer for the game, but for now we just all work on our knots to see if we can get it. Actually after living my many years I realized I had been getting by with only a couple knots in my repertoire. So it is expanding my horizons. And it's fun as well. I really recommend this game. The ropes are sturdy but smooth. The container is handy but not super strong, so open it carefully so you don't crack the plastic. The cards with the knots are easy to understand. I could use info on what the knots are used for and how you would put them to practical use. But that's just me.

Challenging game
This was a gift for our 8 year old son and we have not played much with it yet because of lack of time but just last night we sat to play for about an hour and it is quite challenging. He likes it and has different levels for the knots but it is actually a lot of fun. It seems durable and it is easy to understand (ALTHOUGH some knots by themselves are hard to do). Highly recommended.

Least Favorite of the Think Fun, but still Fun
We own several "Think Fun" games. When I am looking to purchase something fun, yet educational, I always look for games. I always start with think fun to see what they have out.Think Fun games are generally fun and educational. They are usually reasonable in price, and they are always well built. If you have purchased any off the shelf games lately you will know what I mean when I say that they are built so cheap. That is frustrating to me.This particular game is just what it seems, they give you a picture on a card, you tie it with a rope, and pull your side of the rope/pulley to win a point. This is great for scouts. My kids played it, but were bored with it pretty quickly. They also won't pick this game over others.Although it isn't our favorite game, I still give it four stars for educational value, longevity, ability to span many ages.

Very cool game, educational
My 8 yo son is good with his fingers and likes to create things (endless rainbow loom stuff). I was looking for something he could do with his friends or his dad. This is a game for 2-4 people, but he can play it alone too. Each card has a knot on it and the first person who can tie the shown knot wins. It's not easy! I only wish the cards each had a bit of history about the knot (when/where/why it was invented).

No fun for knot novices
I thought this would be a fun way to teach the kids how to tie common knots, but it leaves a lot to be desired both as a game and as an educational tool. As it is, we were driven to other resources---internet illustrations, YouTube, etc.---and learned there how to tie many of the knots used in the game. So, not a total bust. The basic object of the game is to tie a specific knot properly before your opponent does. This can be frustrating, because you have simply a single illustrated card for reference, no step-by-step instructions or tips on how to hold the rope. It's also difficult to judge whether someone has actually tied the knot correctly. The card stand has a tug-of-war rope you can pull to keep score. Knots are designated into different categories---stopper, binding, bends, hitches, loops, and decorative---with difficult levels of difficulty, and the cards show interesting facts about each knot. The plastic container that holds everything (ropes, rings, timer, stand, and cards) is flimsy junk. No one enjoyed this enough as a game to keep it intact as such, but we did keep the deck of illustrated cards and the ropes to practice with. This might be a more enjoyable game for kids like scouts who are already very familiar with tying knots.

Surprisingly fun. Excellent!
This is surprisingly fun. I have no idea why this is so much more fun than learning to tie knots from a knot book, but it is! We got it to teach my son some knots, but my husband and I have been playing. :)I like all the ThinkFun products, and we have several. This is a nice one because it's still a lot of fun and very educational but also quite different from the others.

There's a great variety of knots ranging from simple to extremely difficult
I bought this to give my Girl Scout troop practice with learning their knots. I keep it in our Troop camping bin and every single trip the girls bring it out and have competitions. There's a great variety of knots ranging from simple to extremely difficult.

Good learning product--decent fun
The idea is great and learning the knots is interesting even if just doing it by yourself. The competition mode is fun especially for scout aged kids trying to learn the essential knots. There are a lot of knots to work through--which means lots of entertaining game play that isn't repetitive and won't become boring. The ropes are not finished well at the ends and will unravel fairly quickly after initial play. Also, the ropes and pieces are smaller than expected--but that doesn't matter; anyone who knows knots or wants to will have extra rope lying around that they can add to this game.

Brilliant knotty game.
I bought this for my 7 year old daughter because she always tie knots on everything that she can get hold of. This game is excellent as it explains each different types of knots, their names & what the knots are used for. It can be played competitively or just leisurely.
