5/8 inch wide. Most (or all) of the compressed towel pellets you can find are 20mm (0.2 inches too big to use with this) so I'm buying a different leak detector shutoff that uses the 20mm towel pellets, since the only refills I can find for this are in a 3 pack and cost as much as buying another leak detector.
