As much as they looked like the bolts that were removed, there was such a small difference in being slightly smaller that the first tightening felt normal. At the additional 90° turn, the bolts had damaged the threads of the engine block. Now I have to repair the threads in the engine block and go somewhere else for new bolts. Since these cannot be returned, it makes no sense to try and return them for the correct size.
