The right size and an affordable price. at a little below msrp. Device has a less intense 'noise' aspect and more of a warm. clean distortion. If I want to play Black Sabbath I use my "Super-Fuzz"" and get that heavy very distorted sound. Only problem I see is it is very noisy when you click on the switch to engage the pedal..

This is a really versatile pedal, it actually can do more than I had originally thought, after some experimentation I found this pedal can do a few things.It can do overdrive, like I'd say getting into the zone of crunch territory is about where it taps out before getting way to much output going on. It has a unique voice, I'd say it's kind of "hard", not harsh, but just a very strong and blunt kind of overdrive. I don't know how else to describe it, to me, this is probably the weakest link in the pedal as it has a tendency to get kind of dark and harder to distinguish the notes the more the overdrive is turned up, but still 100% usable.The highlight I think this pedal serves is as a "clean boost", it has a very slight mid-hump, and gives some "girth" to clean notes, it sounds excellent doing this, my favorite setting. It can also be used to push another pedal into some "output" driven overdrive, which is a very clean sounding tone, I like that as-well.That about sums up what the uses are of the pedal, I think it serves really well as an "enhanced" clean tone, and even getting into some unique overdrive territories, but I remain that it serves best as a clean boost. For the price though, I'm a happy camper and I think this is a keeper.Final Notes: This buffer will thin out your tone and add presence when it's off, I ended up returning it because my amp already is a bright amp and it just didn't sit well with my setup. The sound was fantastic, but it made my clean signal to harsh when off.

If you are after a Klon but don't want to spend 5k this is going to be your best choice. it really has a wide range of versatility and gives you that papery tone or if you like there is plenty of adjustment to get some fizz on top for cut.

The first time I ordered, I received an obvious refurb. Controls were set, there was a sticker over ports (just seemed like something you would do to make it "appear" new), and scratches on the bottom. I probably wouldn't have cared if it worked, but it just didn't. Was completely dead. Returned it and ordered another. On this one, for some reason about half the time there would be this sharp buzzing coming from it. I thought it was my amp or cables at first, just because I recently received them too so I just wanted to rule everything out. After lots of testing, it was the pedal. Both times the pedal were purchased in a New condition. So, I don't know what the deal is... but I've spent too much time on this product. On the second one, it at least sounded good (aside from buzzing). But I guess I'll look at other options that are out there.

This pedal can be used alone or use it for a boost into another pedal to give you that clean and mean tone. Kinda expensive.... but it's full of tone and works. You can buy two other pedals for 1/2 the price.... or buy this one and be done with it.

Love this pedal! On it's own it's a very full sounding low to mid gain OD pedal that just has a really smooth sound and feels great to play thru. Nice rich drive, good sustain and compression. Very tweakable controls. You can also use it to boost other drive pedals in your chain that are after The Dude and it works great. I ran The Dude into my Suhr Eclipse over drive pedal set to a medium gain crunch and I got one of the best lead tones I've ever heard from any rig I've ever had. You can also use it as a totally clean boost since it has a TON of clean headroom. I'm setting the volume knob somewhere between 9 and 10 o'clock. Crazy amount of headroom.I'm totally diggin' this pedal and I was reaching for the velcro within 1/2 hour after opening the box. I recently bought 3 pedals and The Dude was the only keeper. I sent back 2 pedals (J Rockett Archer Ikon and Wampler's Tumnus Deluxe). Those pedals also get very high ratings from most players, but they didn't do the trick for me. The Dude is killer! Great pedal.

I’ve owned the tumnus and many many drive pedals and my. Lard currently is Friedman be-Od, plumes, bogner reg high gain, and this klon. I have many drive gai pedals this is just what I’m running. It’s just a clean boost. The drive does not sound good through my fender valve amp or vox ac30. It pushed the upper mids w I can get the same w many mxr eq. All drive pedals are doing is changing to eq on certain freq to make it sounds different maybe better. I just used and ram boost no gain output at 12 and I adjust to taste w treble. But I’m not impressed used ep booster for years which just gives everything a warmer tone but that’s a preamp boost and adds color. But I thk I prefer that. Archer is on now but it won’t last. Ep I’ll switch it with to get a natural gain bc this is a hard clipping oedal so when u run. Gain it is hard clipping w diodes that are magical bit sound like garbage to my ear.
