Range Kleen 3-Piece 3-Quart Sauce Pan with Lid, Steamer and Double Boiler Insert

I read other reviews and almost didn't order this set. I am very happy I did order it. It is in no way flimsy as other reviewers have said. Everything fits perfectly.My intention is to use the steamer insert for steaming garden produce to prepare for freezing, and to use the double boiler insert for melting my handmade soap to make the re-batched soap bars that I sell. I was using one pan inside another for the soap and needed a smaller steamer for steaming smaller quantities of veggies. This set is perfect for both uses.I have already used it for melting soap to make soap bars. This set performs beautifully. I especially like the heat proof handles on the pans and the lid. I highly recommend this item. I expect years of service from this set.I felt I should comment on my first year experience with this set of pans. It has been just over a year since I purchased this set. It is in use daily in my kitchen. I no longer own a microwave and use this set to cook almost all my meals. For re-heating I simply use the double boiler, easy peasy. Sometimes all three parts are in use at the same time with noodles in the bottom, veggies and/or meat in the steamer and re-heating something in the double boiler. All at the same time. I love this set. I don't know what I did without it. My microwave broke, I will not replace it because I can use this set of pans in it's place.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I also love that it stacks nicely, so it takes up little cupboard room.

This set is not the best quality - the whole set seems flimsy, the individual pieces don't fit perfectly and the steel is light and thin. But all in all it does what is supposed to do. The pot has an encapsulated bottom and heats quickly, I use quite a lot. And the steamer is so much better than my old steaming basket - it is bigger and also easier and safer to use - no more burned fingers getting the basket out! A bigger pot also means that I can put enough water in the pot and not be stressed it evaporates in 30 seconds, which is really nice. I haven't used the double boiler yet, but I'm sure it works fine.The functionality of the set is great, the size is good and the fact that I can stack the pieces and use less space when stored is an added bonus. I'd probably hesitate to recommend it to someone who cooks a lot and wants the set to last a lifetime, but for moderate use is well worth the price.

I have not used this, but it looks very nice. I like that it has a double boiler AND a steam insert, and it seems to be sturdy enough. The handles seem long enough and comfortable for lifting. Bottom is nice and flat for ceramic stovetops. I can't comment on how good the heat distribution would be, but I see no reason why it wouldn't be even. Unfortunately, I need to return it, because it is quite a bit bigger than I expected or need. For others' reference, the pan diameter is about 8", the height with either steam or boiler insert and lid in place is about 9.5". Overall length from edge of pan to end of handle is about 15". If I had more space in my kitchen, I'd definitely have kept this.

I too was surprised to find that the set is extremely light weight. Not much description was given for this set, but it did state stainless steel. I know that doesn't indicate quality as there are many different weights of stainless for cookware. So I took a chance, because I really liked the functionality of the set, having a steamer and a double boiler, and I loved the size. I would have normally sent this right back because of the extreme light weight of it and that makes it pretty fragile. But since I won't be cooking anything for long periods of time in it and it will mainly be used for steaming vegetables, I will keep it, because the size is great. I see that this set is listed over and over again on amazon, however, it's buyer be AWARE, because if you look at the weight, there is a huge difference. This I did not see the first time around. That is why the big variation in the price. So, if you like this set and want a heavier version, it's here, for $20-$30 more. Just scroll down and check the weight of each set.

Based on some of the poor reviews I almost didn't buy this. But I also noticed the poor reviews were from several years ago. So I took the chance and I'm glad I did. The quality seems to have improved considerably. This double-boiler/steamer is just exactly what we needed, and we use it several times a week. No, it's not the heaviest gauge, but it is good quality stainless steel that's highly polished and smooth. It's hard to find a combo double-boiler/steamer of any kind, let alone one with good handles and pieces that fit well. This one has the added bonus of being a bargain too. Would buy again.

I diligently read the reviews of this pan and even what turns out to be the same pan from other sellers. One buyer had commented that you needed to look at the shipping weight of the pan to get a heavier duty pan - wrong. Based on that recommendation I went and bought this pan from a seller that was asking more money - my thinking was that I was getting a better quality pan, so I did not mind paying more. WRONG. It is the same pan with the same issues. The only reason the shipping weight was higher was that one box was packed inside another box with lots of packaging around it. So, it was indeed well packed. Unfortunately the top two pans (the steamer and the double boiler pan)do not nest in the bottom pan, this means that the top pan when in use will tip over while you are working and even cause the bottom pan to tip. This is not good when you have boiling water in the bottom pan and hot melted chocolate or a cooking veggie in the other pan on the top. I have a lovely double boiler that I have had for years and was buying this as a birthday gift for my daughter since she always admires mine. Now I need a new plan and she really wanted a double boiler. Mine was made by Mirro and they are no more, real bummer. My advice is to use the microwave to melt chocolate. The danger of this pan is truly scary and not something to be taken lightly.

I have read many reviews on the U.S. and Canada Amazon sites. This product is almost exactly the same as one my parents had some 55 years ago. It does not lose either insert at the slightest touch. The only way I think that could happen is if the water is at a full boil, significant pressure builds up in the base and the insert is empty. The base unit works on my induction cooktop which is interesting since the manufacturer says it will not. The base holds 3 quarts if used on it's own. The two inserts hold slightly less. The solid insert can be used separately, but it will not work on an induction element. It is plenty heavy enough for it's purpose. I expect many years of use from this fine product.
