You of course may disagree or find deeper and more sophisticated books about pastel art etc. But where is a dearth of pastel artists for advice. This is an outstanding book for those eager and hungry to master the pastel art form. It also is great value and you will learn so much and improve moving forward this book is worth every penny. Get it now and grow!

This was a good instructional book, but wasn't for an absolute beginner. The pictures in the book did a great job showing off what pastels can look like, but are very unrealistic for a true novice. I felt discouraged that my drawings didn't look like those in the book, and would have preferred simpler exercises to start with.

The basics are the foundation and the variety of examples clarify the techniques. This is good for all skill levels.

A very good book for my collection for reference

This book is very well written and includes many projects. My main objection is that all of the projects covered are NOT for an absolute beginner; they are intermediate at best; and as a beginner, I consider them to be very advanced. The projects are beautiful and cover a big range of topics, but they are pastel masterpieces which I may never be able to undertake.

I am a beginner with pastels and was struggling with learning how to make marks. Rebecca's book explained a lot.

Excellent book, bought for my husband who is an art appreciator and specifically has an interest in pastels. He is very pleased with the book and is hoping to get started dabbling with pastels soon

Ho deciso di acquistare questo libro anche se in lingua inglese, convinta dalle ottime recensioni positive. Sono davvero soddisfatta! Rispetto ai libri in lingua italiana che possiedo, trovo che sia decisamente migliore. Le spiegazioni sono semplici e dispensa consigli utilissimi a chi si approccia per la prima volta con questa tecnica. Il mio intento era cimentarmi con il paesaggio, quindi mi serviva proprio un libro che partisse dalle basi. Mi piace soprattutto perché spazia in vari generi, passa dal paesaggio al ritratto, animali e persona. Proprio quello che cercavo, visto che nasco come ritrattista. Consiglio l'acquisto!

This book is perfect for the beginner or someone who has never used pastels but want to try this medium. I found the book easy to read and understand. The projects are fun with the outcomes such that the beginner is motivated and empowered to further their learning in pastels.

Good info , a little more details on the drawing with some examples would have been good
