Not bad but you get what you pay for
Works fine but not as many options for preferences. 1 female American voice only, no ability to change how roads are presented, i.e. road you are on or road you are going to, your speed, no 3D choice , all are 2D only. Its simple but has lower bells and whistles than other like priced models.

depends on need
I got to help me learn the area after we moved to a new area. But the more we used it the more we disliked it. Takes you on odd routes that turn out not to be the fastest way at all.

Good Bargain
The RoadMate works very efficiently and is truly a bargain for the price. The map is clear and it is easy to follow the route it sets.

My favorite out of 3 different GPS's so far....
I am enjoying this Magellan RoadMate. In the past I have had or still have a TomTom 100 and a Garmin Nuvi 350.Using this Magellan RoadMate is a piece of cake in comparison. As soon as I turned it on, my car's location was on the screen in an instant. No waiting for 30 seconds or more for the satellite to find me.The One-Touch screen worked perfectly for me. Just one touch..no punching! ;-) I touched the screen to enter my home info...the city, street, so on and it all came up within seconds and that's how long it took to enter.I also like the fact the the voice is clear and there is plenty of notice before you make a turn and there is a doorbell or ringing when you should be making the turn.I purposly made a a few wrong turns to see how long it would take to recalculate the route. My older models would miss a few turns before the voice told me what to do next...this one, the doorbell rings instantly almost...the next block. For me, one who is in a constant state of "lostness", this is a true blessing ;-)The size is also a bonus for me. Since I am often out of town visiting friends, I usually take my GPS when I run in the mornings. Yes, my sense of direction is so bad, that I get lost within yards from my starting point. This fits in my small pack and I can run as far as I like, touch the screen to return to the starting point and wella, I'm like everyone else now..no fear.LOVE this GPS...No complaints at all from me.

Unresponsive Touchscreen of the Magellan Roadmate 1210 Is Proving to be More Than Frustrating
I took the Roadmate out of the box and let it find its location, making sure it was near my living room window as it needs exposure to the sky to work. This is why you need to mount it on your car windshield for Roadmate to operate.Finding its location took about 5 minutes. Then I wanted to type in my home address but the touchscreen keys, the column on the far left, would not respond, so I could not input the correct information.I did some Internet research and found that this unresponsive touchscreen was a common complaint. In fact, I came across dozens and dozens of Magellan owners with the same problem.I then shut the Roadmate off, hoping that rebooting it might fix the touchscreen problem. But sadly, the numbers on the far left column remained unresponsive. To add my frustration, when I pressed, say "A," the voice recognition did not correspond to what was really being inputted--or not being inputted--in the Roadmate. This occurred during a simple test to get directions to my in-laws' house.A couple of hours later, my wife and I used categories (as opposed to manually typing since far left column on screen would not respond) to select a familiar destination, a supermarket. On the way there, the directions were convoluted and required extra driving. On the way back, the voice response was late on the turn to our street and when it did respond it gave us the wrong direction, left instead of right.Inexplicably, an hour later, the touchscreen worked for a longer drive my wife is taking to Long Beach. Based on the inaccurate directions earlier, she is going to do a mapquest to supplement the Roadmate's directions.Perhaps I will be able to resolve the aforementioned issues tomorrow with Magellan Tech Support (1 800 707-9971 M-F 6AM-5 PM PST).It goes without saying that these glitches prohibit me from recommending the Roadmate 1210.Update: I can type in the letters on the far left and right column if I tap a certain way. It takes the right touch. On a trip to Westminster from Seal Beach, the directions were accurate. The more I learn how to use it, the better it serves me, so I'll give it another star.Updates: If anything changes, for better or worse, I will update this review.
