This Travel Chess Set is great for any traveling You may do. The Board folds up nice and tight and when You open it, it lays flat with an even playing surface. The Box is tough enough to keep the Board in safe for storage. Also this Set comes with a Nice Bag to keep the Chess Pieces in. You just have to place the Bag with the Pieces in it spread out as flat as possible inside one side so the Board will close as it should.The Chess Pieces are of a decent size and place on the squares and looks Great in relation to Piece size and Square size. The magnets are not overly strong, but You can turn the Board up on end and they won't fall off, and if brushed slightly while making a move, they stay in place.Overall, this is a TERRIFIC Travel Chess Set and Board for the price.

I bought this for my son and he loves the set. The size is just right and the magnetic strength is quite good. The chess board has a folding design where we can store the pieces. The only reason for me to give the 4 stars is that it does not come with a storage bag. Instead, the instructions are to store it in the card board box that comes in the packing. A storage bad with a string would have been really good. Just a small observation, but overall a great item.

I needed a second chess set, and decided on a portable magnetic set. There are plenty of options, but I settled on tis one and it was a good choice. It's a good size for travel; small enough to be completely portable, but large enough so that it is easy to move the pieces w/o upsetting adjacent pieces. There is a decent amount of magnetic grip so that the pieces stay put on the board. The rows and columns of the board are marked (a-h and 1-8) if you like to use the grid system for exchanging moves w/ your opponent by email or text. The pieces themselves are in the "classic" style, and very nicely cast w/ no evident "seam" or hanging plastic from the mold. All for under $15. What's there not to like? It's a nice travel chess set at a good price.

My son wanted to learn to play chess and asked that I order a set for him. He was very specific about which set he wanted. He was learning to play at school and wanted a set just like that one. He look through Amazon and found this set. It is exactly like the one he was learning on at school. He is very happy with it. It has magnetic pieces with a metal top on the board. The board folds in half and creates a storage requirement for all the pieces. He takes this with him everywhere now.
