1 Pound Bright Aluminum Chainmail Jump Rings 16G 5/16" ID (3000+ Rings)

This is easily the best price you'll find for the quality of aluminum rings. I've used small kits and done small community projects with similarly sized rings but I could pry open and close the rings with my fingertips - these I can barely budge without my pliers. This to me means that any maille I make will stay stable. I did accidentally buy bright rings over anodized rings and didn't realize that until after they shipped. The amount of tarnish I've experienced is fairly minimal though. I do have a bit of residue on my fingertips after maille sessions even after washing the rings initially, but it's fairly minimal and quickly washes off, and there is no wear reflected on the rings themselves. I haven't noticed any residue getting on my clothes as I work and this gives me confidence how it'll respond to whatever I wear underneath it. I'm in the long haul with my first project being a Hauberk, and I'm already halfway through one of the two bags I bought to start myself out. While I may attempt making a round of rings myself if I find a similar sized and quality wire just for the experience of it, I'm definitely coming back to buy the rest of the rings I need for this project from Chainmail Joe, as well as any other project in the near future.

Chainmail Joe rings, especially the bright aluminum kind, are really shiny and attractive looking when you are finished with a project using them. They are easy to bend open or closed, and they won't leave a mess. I have made a chainmail shirt with these over the last few months for use in various cosplays, pictured in this review, and if you're looking to do something similar, here are the details I'm sure you want to know: * It took 5 bags of these specific rings to make this shirt (so 15,000 rings), and as a beginner it took me 150-175 hours to finish (i tracked the time spent). The guide I used (chainmail101 website) suggested it would take considerably less time, but as a beginner it will take you about the time it took me, as there are complicated parts that you wouldn't expect to encounter until you actually start making it. * Any pliers will do, but invest in pliers that are comfortable in your hands. Do not bother with one of those beadsmith jump ring opener/closer finger-ring tools, they aren't nearly as good as 2 pairs of pliers * I am 6' tall and have 44-46" shoulder width, and 15,000 rings makes a short-sleeved shirt that goes 5-6" below the belt-line. * Once you are done you can put the shirt into the dishwasher to clean off any loose burrs and make it shine, or hand-wash it with a bucket and some dish soap. These rings are perfect for this kind of project because the finished product really does look incredible, and is satisfying to look at once you're done. The entire process of weaving together the rings is a very relaxing pastime in and of itself. It will take patience to complete a project like this, but don't let that dissuade you. I Highly recommend chainmail joe rings, though I haven't used rings from other sellers.

I'm a long-time jewelry mailler/minor dabbler in small armor pieces who has tried about everybody's stuff, and when I saw these, I was intrigued due to the "no gray residue" claim. I'm glad I took the risk and got a pound for a larger project. The rings I received are: -Well-sized, and seem equivalent to other vendors' rings with this measurement -A good balance between soft and hard; not as hard to work as steel, but I think they won't pull apart with wear like copper. I was concerned because they're an alloy, not pure aluminum, but they seem quite comparable to aluminum's strength and weight. -Don't leave gray residue on my hands and clothing while I'm weaving like pure polished aluminum (at least not so far; I'll have to wait and see how they wear) -Have no apparent nicks or scratches near the opening like certain other vendors' rings too often do these days -Have no burrs at the cut like certain other vendors' rings too often do these days and happily aren't leaving flakes of metal on my weaving surface and clothes -Are cut straight; so far, no awkward acute angled cuts (again, unlike lots of rings I've received lately from that other vendor) -Arrived well-polished instead of being advertised as "bright" but actually being very dull and accompanied on the vendor's sale site with a smug warning note about how if you want to use actual brightly polished aluminum rings, you can go buy an expensive tumbler and learn the fine art of tumbling You may be sensing my dissatisfaction with increasing quality control problems from another large jump ring vendor who is a primary supplier to the community; if so, you're right. If I continue to receive this quality of product, I'll be switching my bright aluminum business from them to Chainmail Joe whenever possible.

I like these jump rings! I just started doing chainmail and I’ve already placed another order for some smaller ones as well! I feel like the amount you get is great for the price as well!

I will say for some chain mailers out there the ring's metallic finish rubs off but the rings do work, the size is 16g 5/16" as advertised, the bendability is easy to utilize, pretty sturdy, can be used for making a scrubber or potentially chainmail works like chainmail shirts for LARPing or cosplay.

I chose the 9/32 18 SWG jump rings for a women’s small chainmail shirt/dress. What you see here is 10,000 rings so far and we will be making a higher neckline and long sleeves so probably another 5,000 rings will go into it. Collectively, our 3 person group has put about 100 hours into this project and I’m guessing we will put in close to 40 more to finish it. So if you are doing it alone or with a group, plan the time it will take with your schedule because this is intense! The way this size jump ring with the 6.2 aspect ratio just forms to the body when you use European 4 in 1 is amazing. What you see on the dress form is a cylinder with a square cut out on the bottom and rectangle straps on top. Everything is completely straight as far as the pattern goes but as soon as you put it on a body or the dress form, it flows almost like a slinky material. I’m obsessed and would love to make chain mail dresses if I survive this armor shirt lol. Happy crafting!

I have bought quite the number of jump rings from different locations. I am used to the Bright Aluminum ones to have just a slight higher shine than the Stainless Steel. However, these ones almost seem to be silver rings from the brightness they have. They are still clearly aluminum from their color, but their luster is amazing. They make great pieces and honestly their aspect ratio is perfect for most popular weaves. So overall, if I could I would give them much more than just 5 stars. Granted they are a little pricey, but for the amount you get and their quality, they are worth every penny. Anyone who is getting into chain maille, I strongly recommend these. They'll make wonderful projects and you'll really be encouraged at how easy they are to work with. Anyone who is more advanced and has been doing this for a while, I still strongly recommend these. Their shine will surprise you, they have zero residue when you wear them for long periods of time, they are perfectly cut, and very easy to work with. They also feel very light weight which is a plus for more delicate pieces.
