Why is this necessary?
Just curious as to why I have to rate an unsed insurance service when I am not allowed to rate the Prime Membership I paid a heck of a lot more for? Just asking.

Great customer service!!
I ended up returning my data recovery plan since the memory stick it was to cover was defective. BUT, I contacted the company’s customer service department with a problem. My only return choice was to credit my original purchase method. However, my payment method was deactivated and replaced. So the company came up with a fix within about an hour of me sending my message. My refund is on its way without any further complications. I would highly recommend these guys based on my experience with their customer service since this is likely who you will deal with if you need to utilize this plan!

A Lesson in Frustration!
Yup! Hate it, even before I get to use it.Of course, like any 'insurance' I hope I never have to use it. In this case it would be to rescue data from a PK8 Picture Keeper, a specialty thumb drive that backs up photos. We ordered one for my son who has years of photos. What a tragedy if he backed them up on the thumb drive, and it failed; this would provide data-recovery. A great concept!I ordered it on Amazon June 12, but never received a copy of the contract. About a week later I went back to my ORDER page, and clicked on the 'Where is my product?" button. It said it was an email item.OK, I searched my emails for anything referring to fa services, which is referenced in the order. Nothing. Finally, I called the company last week, July 2, to ask for a copy of the contract to enclose with his gift. I spoke to a lady in customer service who said her email address was [email protected]. She said she sent me a copy of the contract but I waited and eyeballed my email account as we spoke, and it never arrived. Finally, I sent her an email so she would have my email address, and she again said she'd send it. By now it's the day before Jim's birthday, and I had lots to do, but lost over 40 minutes on the phone and searching email. She called me back the next day, while I prepared for guests, to tell me her manager wants PROOF of PURCHASE of both the contract and the Picture Keeper. I told her it would have to wait, I couldn't do it that day.Today I went into my Amazon account, pulled up my ORDERS page, and did a PRINTSCREEN of the related orders, pasted the image into MS Paint, and saved it both as a png and a jpg file. I attached the files to an email, and requested a snail-mail hard-copy of the contract registered to my son, (another 40 minutes between the email and the images. (What would my friends do who know only enough computerese to email back and forth?)My gmail account is reliable. The SEARCH function works through the spam and trash boxes as well as the regular inbox. I have wasted SO much time with this, that I gave RESCUE Data Recovery Services only one star.I hope Jim never needs the service, but if he does, I hope the data recovery service is more efficient and functional than my time-consuming attempts to get a copy of their contract coverage! Today, 7/7/15 I am still without a copy of the contract.ONE star, dude!

No Proof Exists For The Existence or Purchase of This Product!
It's months later, and I have absolutely NO proof that I have this recovery plan. I was told that it was in place and that's all I had to worry about, but I have no proof that I have the plan. I'm thoroughly disenchanted. Now, I have to pick up my computer and see if this service plan and the cloud recovery plan is for real because all of my data was wiped off of my hard drive. I'm relying on this guarantee that my data was saved. We shall find out tomorrow when I pick up my poor computer. I know that the plan I had on the computer wtas good. It was expensive, but worth it because I didn't have to pay a penny for the repairs, and if it hadn't been reparable, I'd have gotten a new computer. All of it was in writing. That's what I wanted for this product, but no such thing appears to exist. I'm disenchanted right now. Tomorrow will tell the truth. I'll revisit this site and eat my words if it turns out that the data was being saved in the cloud.

Spend the extra money to warranty your files.
I haven't used this warranty but after losing all my files from my GoPro Hero 3+ I decided to spend the extra money this time. If you haven't been in a situation where you lose all your files believe me, you don't want to take the chance. I lost all of my daughters birthday party at a horse riding camp and she was upset to say the least. I can recover the files for $100 which I plan on doing but this is much cheaper. Spend the little bit of extra money to warranty your files.

Linus has his security blanket ... this can be your data's security blanket, but many people feel the extra charge is excessive.
I love the feeling that I have that my data is protected. My only problem is how do I accurately keep track of all my protection plans. I wish that Amazon had a "What items are covered by what warranties" option that we could use to verify where we stand.Just like extended warranties have been shown to be overpriced, these protection plans must be taken with a grain of salt. Do you need them, or do you not? Only you can decide if the expense is worth your feeling of protection.

Used it once, got all my data back
I have purchased 5-6 external hard drives and 5 sd cards with this plan. I've had to actually use the service once, and they recovered every bit of my lost data. I found the process to be very well done. It took a bit longer than I originally expected to get my data back (about 10 days), but the recovered data was returned on a brand new drive and it was even in the same format. I'm thankful for this kind of service. I'll buy it every time.

Ignore the complainers...
My two cents -- one can safely ignore those reviews whose authors complain that they never received notice of this insurance plan after purchase. Yesterday, 4/18/16, I purchased a memory card and this two-year data recovery plan. Today, 4/19/16, I received the promised email from FA Service Plans containing my plan number, the effective and expiration dates, and the terms and conditions. Can't say anything about how the plan will perform when and if I ever need it, but so far it is exactly as promised.
