S107G 3 Channel RC Helicopter with Gyro, Blue

To be honest I can't believe how impressed I am with the Syma S107/S107G R/C Helicopter. I have never dealt with remote helicopters before so I had very little knowledge before buying this item. I did some small research on the best RC helicopters for kids and this was at the top of the list. I expected it to be very fragile and hard to fly but the price was good and my son really wanted a RC helicopter for his birthday. This chopper is quite durable. My son has (and still does) crash his often. After the third day of constant flying one of the blades on top of the chopper chipped but it still flies fine. My son just turned six and he can fly it well. It only took him a few tries to get the hang of it. He still crashes but it's with less frequency now. Like I said before I am unfamiliar with other models so I cannot compare how it flies but my experience with this chopper has been great. It is easy to fly and hover. We have very large ceilings in our house so this works great in those rooms but we have flown it in low ceiling rooms and it does well there too. Not at all hard to control. One complaint I have is the battery life. It doesn't last long enough before you have to charge, but that was clearly stated in the info section so it's not a complaint really more of a disappointment. It simply is so much fun that my son and I really don't want to stop flying it. We loved it so much that we bought two more (one more for him and one for me:). For the price it is really a great deal and it is a great toy for responsible children.

I bought a 2-ch micro-heli from Academy (I think it was called the Wasp?) after Christmas; it was a great on-sale price at $13 and I've always wanted to try one of these things out. It gets off the ground, has blinky LED lights... and that's about it. I've discovered that it's basically the same helicopter that is sold by Brookstone that gets less than stellar reviews. Enter the Syma S107G. I happened to see that these little choppers were on sale, better built, 3-ch., and looked like a LOT of fun. So, what do you get the closet nerd who's turning 40? One of THESE! I got it yesterday and after unpacking and an initial charge, it worked just as described. VERY easy to operate, accurate and easy trim, goes where you WANT it to go, built with quality and a BLAST to fly! My son was THRILLED that he could say "make it go here, Daddy. Now, make it go over there!" and I could. It was the kind of interaction I was hoping we'd have by having a helicopter in the house. So far, this thing is worth every penny. Cons: Well, there really aren't any. Mainly just suggestions / tips. I've read reviews that comment on it's slow forward flying speed. I guess I can kinda see that. There are several easy mods on YouTube that will show you how to get your S107G flying forward faster. I've tried the easy one of sliding the landing skids forward and it did make a difference without making it uncontrolable. At least I have the easy option of putting it back if I don't like it. Cool factor: I'm not sure how deeply I'm going to geek-out on my Syma heli, but I do think it's cool to know that you can really tinker with and mod an R/C that's under $30. There are a lot of mods and how-tos out there for you to explore. Some more extreme than others, but none are that difficult. I may do the one that allows the vertical control on your transmitter to act more like a real helicopter collecive throttle and allows steady hover. Cool, eh? I'm looking forward to a lot of flight and tons of fun with this thing. So far, this thing is a real winner. You can stop your mini-heli research now... just decide what color you want and order this thing!

I was looking to get into the world of RC aircraft, and did a bit of research on different available products. I wanted to stay inexpensive, and this sure fit the bill, though I was skeptical how great a ~$20 helicopter can be. Probably one of the best Jacksons I've spent in a while. These RCs are surprisingly responsive, and after a bit of practice, super easy to control - it will hover in place. After probably an hour or so, you'll be a natural. They're pretty darn durable for the most part, and replacement parts are readily available online. You can take a few pieces off to make it quicker and have a longer run time, though this compromises the durability. I removed the 2 rear support beams, the rear fin, and the landing runners, and difference was quite noticeable. It did float forward when at idle, because this threw off the weight balance, but I was looking for speed. Some people also put a bigger battery in it; I didn't bother. My first one broke after the first flight, and was not repairable. A set screw for the lower prop stripped out the plastic hole it screws into, so I would have needed to replace the whole body. I probably could have got the parts, but instead I took a trip to Fry's, where I bought another one for $20. So now I'm in for $40, but in my opinion, still worth it. In this price range, there isn't much of a quality difference, not until you get well over $100. My second has been running great for the past ~month. I did manage to break the landing runner bracket from several high falls and collisions (5-10'), but nothing super glue couldn't fix, and everything else is fine. Additional details: You can fly it outdoors, but if there's any wind at all, expect to go the direction it's blowing. Same thing with ceiling fans.. It is susceptible to interference. Sometimes it would just fall out of the sky. I noticed this much more outside, and when my friend was flying his as well. Not sure if it's actually interference, or just poor quality RF modules. Also sometimes takes 5-10 seconds for the controller to sync. It requires line of sight. Interior walls usually aren't a problem, but don't expect to go behind a fridge or something. The blades will do damage. They don't really hurt much if you get hit in the hand or something, but they did scratch my laptop screen (was trying to be cool and land it on the keyboard). You can charge it via the controller, or in a laptop USB port, but it doesn't seem to charge with a regular USB wall wart adapter (too much current?). The controller takes 6(!!!) AA batteries. It has about a 7-12 minute run time, and charges in a half hour. It doesn't go forward/back very quickly. I imagine you could replace the rear prop with a bigger one to resolve this, but hey, it's meant for indoor. It won't hold any weight. Don't expect to strap a camera to it. The controller has a rudder adjustment, or whatever it's called, in case the body rotates without input. All in all, a very cool/fun little toy. I'll probably be upgrading to something bigger to fly outdoors in the near future. The price seems to vary a lot, so when it's under $20, buy!

I'm 26 years old, and I'm playing with toy helicopters. What is this world coming to? I think I showed my age when I picked up my first toy helicopter a few years ago and marveled at the level of technology that kids can get their hands on for a few days' worth of lunch money. Back in my day, we were fine with our Micro Machines and GI Joe action figures. And we had to walk 5 miles uphill, barefoot, in a blizzard just to play with them, mind you. In my book, this is one of the coolest gifts you can get anyone. Obviously kids would love these things. I've given one to my dad before, and he's addicted. The CEO of my company has one in his office, and plays with it regularly. The controls are dead simple. It's a 3-channel helicopter meaning that you can control direction on 3 axes: throttle up/down, pitch forward/backward, and yaw left/right. If you can handle a remote control car, the learning curve on this thing is basically non-existent. Here's an important point, though: this helicopter will fly just about as well as any other toy helicopter in its price range. They're all built on the same chassis, all made by random Chinese manufacturers, and probably all have the same guts as well. However, the ones that are done up to look like Apache or Blackhawk helicopters are probably a bit heavier than these are, meaning you might see slightly slower response on the throttle and perhaps decreased flight time. But, that being said, this particular model is great because replacement parts are readily available, and CHEAP. And in general, this thing takes a TON of abuse. I've had several similar helicopters, and all of them can take head-on collisions with walls and furniture without skipping a beat. One slight negative is that the throttle isn't as responsive as I'd like it to be. There's a split second delay between when I increase/reduce the throttle and when the helicopter responds to that control. If you're in a bind, that slight lack of responsiveness might result in your heli smacking up against the ceiling. But again, this thing is built to take abuse like that. Don't even bother with anything under the Air Hogs brand. The ones at a similar price point to this helicopter are only 2-channel helicopters, meaning you can only control throttle and yaw. Those helicopters drift forward by themselves; you can't control forward or backward flight. And the more expensive Air Hogs, while 3-channel in design, are way more expensive than this particular helicopter for no good reason. Finally - if you're thinking of getting into the hobby of RC helicopters in general, a 3-channel heli like this is the perfect gateway to the hobby. Figure out whether you actually like it, and if you do, plunk down on a nicer 4-channel helicopter in the $100+ price range like the Walkera Lama2 or Blade MCX2 (if you really like RC helicopters then the $100+ price tag becomes worth it... they are MUCH nicer to fly, they go faster, and can do more cool things).

I bought this for my 12 year old brother for Christmas because he had been asking for one. I thought I stumbled upon some luck when I found this helicopter with it's terrific reviews at a reasonable price ($28). The list price was listed as $100+ at the time I purchased it, so I really thought I was getting a great deal. Deceptive advertising? Maybe. The packaged arrived in a small box that looked more toyish than what I had been expecting from the five star reviews. I wrapped it up and my little brother loved it when he unwrapped it on Christmas day. I was only in town visiting for Christmas day and he didn't play with it right away, so I didn't see him set it up. He didn't call me with any problems about setting it up so I assume it was easy enough for an average adolescent. When I went home again for NYE, I saw the helicpoeter on the table. I decided to try it out. To my surprise, it only flew one direction - up and down. There is is a second joystick to make it fly right and left, but no matter what I did, the helicopter would only stay in the same spot and only go up and down. I asked my little brother about it and apparently this is all it had done since he opened it. To future buyers: don't be deceived by the previous great reviews on here. Maybe at one time, this remote control helicopter was good, but the current helicopter is junk. Spend your hard-earned money on another helicopter, even if it's more expensive.

Overview: The Syma S107G is a great indoor rc helicopter. I personally did not expect much given the heli's $15 price tag yet I'm blown away by the amount of small moving parts and surprisingly decent quality it has. While I can't say that a mini RC helicopter has many practical uses in everyday life, it sure is a great little gadget/toy to have around the office or your room if you are looking to kill a few minutes everyday piloting your heli through various obstacles such as furniture, family members, or coworkers. Aesthetics The Syma S107G is a rather slick little rc heli. The helicopter is built on an aluminum frame and is shelled with colored plastic parts. The interior appears to be composed of white plastic gears that move when the heli is in operation. The rotors are made of a durable feeling plastic attached to an aluminum rotating shaft. Although the rotors feel of decent quality, they are quite thin so I'd recommend purchasing extra just in case. The rotors on my heli have not broken yet even though I have crashed it several times but only time will tell how it will hold up. The receiver looks rather cheaply made plastic upon first glance but upon getting a firm grasp on it, it is actually pretty solid and has some weight to it. The heli is around 7 inches in length, the rotors from one side to the other when fully extended are around 7 inches as well, and the height is about 3.5 inches. The controller is roughly 4.5 inches by 6 inches with a depth of 1.75 inches. Charging It takes anywhere from 30 min to an hour to completely charge depending on how dead the battery is in the heli. Flight time is probably anywhere from around 10-15 minutes Charging is done via a charging cable that comes out of a bottom left slot of the controller. The controller requires 6 AA batteries that are not included. Handling and Usability The Syma S107G Heli is a 3 channel RC which means it can move up, or down; yaw forward, backward, right, or left; or rotate in a circular motion left or right. The S107G handles great indoors but any gust of wind even from a ceiling fan will potentially make it unstable and hard to control. I can not recommend using it outdoors nor can I imagine you would be able to keep it airborne longer for then a few seconds due to how light it is in an outdoor setting. As long is there is not any interference from wind, the S107G handles great indoors although does require some attention and focus to use so I couldn't imagine letting a kid under 10 using it without breaking it. One thing I did notice that is a slight annoyance is the heli does yaw backwards slightly if you hover. This could probably be easily fixed by putting some sort of weight in the nose of the heli. If the heli rotates in one direction, this can easily be corrected with a dial on the controller which you would turn in the direction opposite that your heli is currently turning in on its own. The controller also allows the left stick to be set at a set position in order to easily hover. The controller also has an a and b frequency which I assume means that one other heli of the same model could be flown on the opposite frequency simultaneously. Durability I have probably probably flown this heli around 15 times total and crashed it about 3 or 4 times. It still looks basically as new as the day I took it out of the box and still flies just as well but I imagine that rotors would be prone to breaking after numerous small crashes or even a single big crash. Final Verdict At $15 the Syma S107G 3 Channel RC Helicopter is a steal. I would spend up to $30 on something like this and consider it still a great deal. Although there a few quirks to the S107G (particularly how it yaws backwards slightly when hovering), I give the 4.5 / 5 stars for how well it handles, how durable it is, and its general ease of use. These little helicopters are a lot of fun to play with and seem to be able to withstand quite a beating. We purchased several of these to give as "stocking stuffers" at Christmas as well as a couple for ourselves just for fun. The instructions that come with this helicopter are a little lacking, but this is not a complex toy. Helpful hints missing from the instructions: * Leave the unit level when you turn it on for a few seconds. There will be a very small blinking green light visible from the back of the unit that will stop flashing after a few moments. This is the gyro level-setting. * To change channels of the helicopter (A vs B), make sure both the helicopter and remote are powered off. Set the channel you wish to use on the remote and power the remote on first with the throttle lever at idle. Power on the helicopter and move the throttle to the "open" position. After a brief moment, the helicopter will change channels and is available for use. DURABILITY These are durable but not indestructible. Take care when flying in a room with a lot of obstacles. Even slight changes in airflow in a room will change the flight dynamics of these small, lightweight helicopters. Due to their small size and relatively low powered motors, attaching anything to the helicopter could very easily prevent it from flying and at the very least will make it more difficult to control. BATTERY The helicopters can be charged from the included USB cable or from the included power-port on the remote. I would advise charging with the USB cable because charging from the remote will quickly drain the remote's batteries. Regarding the USB charger, there is a little light in the USB side of the cable provided that will light up when charging is finished. The LED is not externally visible on the charger cable. The way you fly your helicopter will influence how long the battery lasts, but we are averaging roughly 5 to 7 minutes. Charging takes roughly 45 minutes for my helicopters. To maximize the life of the rechargeable battery, allow your helicopter to "rest" for 5 to 10 minutes after a flight before plugging it in for a charge. Take care when plugging the cable into the helicopter to charge as the pins are very very small and I could see where it could be easy to damage them if you're too rough with it. On the charging cable (both on the remote and the USB cable) there is a small arrow/triangle on the top of the plug. Plug into the helicopter with this arrow/triangle facing up. FLIGHT AND CONTROL These helicopters quite stable and easy to fly. It does take a little finesse to learn just how much throttle you should give these, but the learning curve is minimal and you'll have it figured out during your first flight. As you fly (and crash... because yes, you will crash these repeatedly) you should expect little tiny nicks in the plastic blades and plastic body pieces. These will impact flight characteristics over time but very minimally. You can pick up a set of replacement pieces for very little money here on Amazon. I think the last time I looked it was maybe $3 or less. IF YOU HAVE PETS WITH LONG HAIR -- keep an eye on the rotor shaft and pull any tangled animal hairs or fibers out from around the shaft regularly. With very little maintenance and care, I see no reason why these shouldn't last for quite a long time. The availability of very inexpensive replacement parts here on Amazon means you should be able to enjoy a great many flights with these units.

I bought one of these mini helis as a Christmas present for my 8-year-old nephew. The package says ages 14-up, which I think is a little on the cautious side. Anyway, my nephew LOVED it, his sisters LOVE it (surprisingly there's no fighting over it LOL), his dad LOVES it, and his grandfather LOVES it. I'm buying one for myself, and my nephew's grandfather asked if I'd pick one up for him as well. There are 2 channels available that you can choose using an A-B switch on the remote, so 2 helis can fly in the same house at the same time. This thing is RUGGED. It's taken some spectacular falls onto hard surfaces from 6-8, even 10 feet in the air, and has always been ready to go right back up. The all-metal body is very sturdy and handles mid-air collisions with staircases and rafters without being damaged. Knowing how these things get used I bought a spare set of rotor blades with the heli, but almost a month after Christmas it's still on the original set. There are a few small nicks & dings in them, which is probably part of the reason we can't trim out all the rotation with the controls in neutral, but the deviation is very minor. One good thing about the S107G, especially if kids will be using it or around someone who's using it, is that the spinning blades won't injure them. I stuck my fingers into the spinning blades at full throttle to demonstrate, and there wasn't even any pain. Granted a child may feel pain, but he or she won't get cut. Obviously keep it away from the eyes, though. The S107G is a basic heli, you can't do stunts, tricks, loops, etc, with it. It goes up & down (slowly or quickly, depending on how much throttle you give it), it turns left and right, and it goes forward & backward in whichever direction you point it by turning. Within 5 minutes you can have the basics mastered, and still have at least 5 minutes of flight time to practice before the battery won't lift the heli any more. Being a LiPo battery it needs to cool down for a time after use and before charging, and this is where it'd be nice if the S107G had a swappable battery. But, that would necessitate a bigger helicopter, bigger battery, more room in which to fly it, more expense, etc. For what it is - a toy, not a serious R/C machine - I think the S107G is perfect, and with little more than replacing rotor blades from time to time should last a long time.

It’s very nice but unfortunately the battery so bad it work for less then 5 mins not more and I have to charge it again so useless to keep when i should charge it every 5 mins

This is an awesome toy and a fair price. Battery life is short - flight time is 8-10 minutes between charges. Flight controls have a shallow learning curve. Copter is pretty agile and very well built. I have since bought another, to fly together with my son. Highly recommend.
