This Is The One For Kids!
I've done quite a lot of testing and measuring of supposedly kid-friendly bows and this is the one to get! I work at a camp and conference center and have hundreds of 2nd-6th graders go through the Archery Range each year. The old 20lb recurves that have been here forever are fine for the older kids, but the younger ones struggle with them. We have two old 9.5lb bows that are perfect, that the kids always prefer, but they are not made any more. Other bows that are marketed for children are just as difficult to pull as our 20lb bows even though they boast a lower weight rating. This one has the draw weight, feel, and performance of our smaller ones. Archery is a great way to quickly teach kids perseverance, going from never having held a bow before, to, "I did it!" I'll be getting about a dozen more of these! It was also fine for my 5 year old grandson.A related performance evaluation would be to NOT use fiberglass arrows with their typical stiffer fletches (wings/feathers), but get a similarly priced poplar arrow with synthetic feather fletches. The stiffer fletches cause the arrow to bounce off the bow as it passes the hand grip and take on a nose-dive looking flight that doesn't level out until well past the distance of a kid sized range. That flight pattern means the mass of the arrow is not behind the head, so it will do a lot of bouncing off the target. Some of those fiberglass arrows also have a head that fits over the shaft so it's wider than the shaft and gets stuck in the target when pulling the arrow out.

Good beginner bow. Needs better arrows.
The bow works pretty good. Plenty easy for my 4 year old, but still reasonably powerful. On the negative side, the arrows that come with it stink. I used some of the arrows from my own bow with it and it is much better. The small arrows that come with it are unbalanced and tend to fly all over when shot. This could be very frustrating for a new shooter so I would suggest looking for some better arrows.

strong bow, works well for kids and adults, but not a toy; no instructions
careful, this thing as oompf -- definitely only with adult supervision or very disciplined kids that make sure noone is in the line of fire. My first shot (you guessed it - I really bought this for myself and not for my kids ;)) went 40 feet down the yard and stuck with an audible 'drrrrrrrrr' in our chicken coop.Despite my warnings my younger son (5) used it without the inner-arm wrist guard it came with and got a nice stingy slap of the bow string, so be careful to wear long sleeves or the guard. Also, the bow does not come with any sort of instructions, make sure you know which hand to let go ;)The arrows have one "feather" that has a different color; like all of bows and arrows, the different-colored feather (white in our case), also called 'index feather', should point to the outside of the shelf of the bow, away from limb: the arrow will swish along the arrow rest guided by the bow limb, and if there is a feather pointing toward the limb or the shelf then either the feather get ripped out pretty quickly or the arrow will not shoot straight. We are really enjoying this bow, as it is fun enough for me to use, and not too stiff so that the kids can use it, too.

Great Starter Bow & Arrow Set (L or R Hand)
I bought a green one of these for my son when he was 5 and he has been shooting it for a couple years now. Good weight and size for small kids with just the right amount of pull to stick the arrows in a foam block target, but not wear them out. This is something a variety of neighbor kids have all used and perfect for teaching them the sport of archery. Doesn't matter whether they are right or left, as this bow will work for both.I bought this one as my 4 yr old wants to be just like brother and shoot too. She has tried his and has no problem, so it was time to get one of her own. She picked this color and once the snow melts a bit, we can do some more shooting in the yard. Perfect for backyard shooting without having to worry too much, but you should always have a backstop, as they will miss. Wooden fence has a few ding marks, but that is about it.

Perfect for my five-year-old daughter
Perfect for my five-year-old daughter. I recently made a PVC pipe DIY bow with my older child. We involved her little sister (five years old) as much as was reasonable, but there just wasn't much for her to do.I decided to just pick up this Bear set for the wee one. She *loves* it. It's a perfect pull strength for her. I don't know how it could be improved. And it cost fourteen bucks. Awesome value.

Perfect for younger Set
Kids are 6 and 9 and they love this set. We did buy one set of extra arrows as only comes with two. Good starter set. Made of fiberglass so no issues breaking and it comes with arm protector, which they both needed, as well as arrow holder. We have a standard target for adults and these arrows easily pierced that so this is not a toy and needs adult supervision at all times. Arrows go just as far as adult versions. Kids loved learning the basics, including safety.

he just likes shooting it and can get pretty good distance out of it
Bought this for my son just before his 5th birthday day. he was able to shoot it on his own in no time. We haven't used any of the accessories or target that came with it, he just likes shooting it and can get pretty good distance out of it. I've also found it fun to shoot. Only thing odd was additional arrows cost more than the whole set, so you're better off buying two sets. He does struggle some times to keep the arrow on the bow, but I wouldn't say it's the fault of the product, he just needs to get a little more coordinated with his wrist control. I would definitely buy this again.

Great quality
My kids have had so much fun with this archery set! I know nothing about archery, but I was very happy with the quality of this set. This is NOT just a cheap, plastic, toy prop - these arrows really fly! And because this thing works so well be sure to monitor your kids with this and give yourself a large practice area. The size and tension seem appropriate for my 5 year old and my 8 year old. One thing I would recommend is buying additional arrows right from the start. I purchased a set of Elong Fiberglass Arrows off Amazon at the same time as this set and I'm glad I did. We found that we preferred the Elong arrows to the ones that came with this set anyway. Also, be sure to use the arm guard and wear a long sleeve shirt. I gave my kids a memorable lesson in what NOT to do by giving myself a large welt on my arm - you're welcome, kids.

Well made and powerful
Surprisingly well made for a cheap price. Draw strength required isn't too high and my son of 10 could full it all the way back. It is powerful though so you still need to be careful and have space to use it. Can be used by adults too as a beginner set.

Don't buy really cheap bows.
If your kids are remotely serious about archery or want to learn at least proper archery, then go for something else. This is really cheap but you might just end up using it for one weekend and then not do archery anymore.

Great quality
Great quality beginner kit, with all the accessories (2 arrows, quiver, arm protector, target). Excellent for a starter kit (my four year old loves it!). Not a heavy draw, so great for younger kids.
