Great product, covers very well with 2 or 3 coats, even when you think it's not going to when it's wet

I’ve tried a few brands of gesso and this is as good as most. Maybe a little thinner but still did the job

First Impressions & Context I purchased this Creative Deco 1L Black Gesso to act as an undercoat medium for my 3D-printed models. Instead of brushing it on out of the tub, I actually put this primer into a refillable paint pen, and it has quickly become my absolute go-to base before using acrylic markers. The quality is honestly beautiful, and my only real regret is that I didn't buy the white version at the same time to have both options on my workbench! Performance & Real-World Testing In terms of application, this gesso goes on incredibly smoothly and doesn't run or drip, even when fed through a pen. It dries remarkably fast, and once it is fully cured, it delivers one of the most intensely matte finishes I have ever seen on a 3D print. Crucially for 3D graphics and models, it helps seal the layer lines perfectly, which prevents subsequent layers of acrylic paint from wicking into the microscopic gaps of the print. As an added bonus for messy workspaces, if you happen to get any of it on your hands during application, it washes straight off with ease. The Bottom Line I highly recommend this as a primer and doubt I will ever switch brands. It offers fantastic value, brilliant coverage, and makes the painting process so much cleaner and more professional. It is an absolute staple for anyone looking to achieve a flawless finish on plastic models. In the photos, that is one coat straight onto the plastic.

If you are using this to prime a canvas I found it to be quite absorbent, however as a paint for its other uses it’s perfectly fine

Nice and thick, does what it’s supposed to.

What you want from a black gesso is firstly density, and this stuff is pretty dark, and secondly consistency - drying to an even matte finish, and this does exactly that. Great for blacking out old paintings or unwanted bits of works in progress! Being supplied in a bottle rather than a canister means less air gets to it when the cap is off, so it doesn't dry out as quickly as some brands I could name (I'm looking at you, W&N). It's also good as a mixer to darken and take the gloss out of other colours - if that's what you want. Top stuff!
