Will this "smoke" work with BOTH ionization (small smoke particles) and photoelectric (large particles) detectors?

Does this produce actual visible "smoke" - I would like to check for drafts.

Only for a few seconds, so this may not be the best option to check for drafts. You can buy something called a "smoke pen" for cheap at some hardware stores for this purpose. Or an incense stick.

Does this product come with a small tube for precise placement of the smoke?

No, it does not, BUT the "smoke" is an aerosol, not the kind of smoke that smells, and leaves the wall dirty or stained. The "smoke" comes out like underarm deodorant, or air freshener. It's dry, and dissipates almost immediately. I simply aim it at the smoke alarm, and press for a short spray. If that isn't enough to trigger the alarm, I give the tester button a longer press until the alarm goes off. I usually takes less than a 1-2 second spray to trigger the alarm, and then it takes 10-20 seconds for the alarm to stop blaring. I like this product. Simply pressing the "test" button on a smoke alarm only tells you if the battery is working or not. It doesn't let you know if the "sensor" in the smoke alarm works.
