Backpacker's Pantry Dark Chocolate Cheesecake | 1-Pack

Calling this a "cheesecake" is a bizarre choice. It in no way shape or form looks or tastes like a cheesecake. Much closer to a thick chocolate cake batter. That being said, it is quite yummy.

Had a great flavor

I ordered this and the Creme Brule which is delicious and IMO easier to prepare. I made this just now and it took at least a solid minute of brisk stirring in a small glass bowl just to get the powder together and into a batter with still having some on the rim of the bowl. Just a minor annoyance and didn't affect the final result. Came out a thick pudding with a slight cheesy tang, great deep chocolate flavor and a nice silky texture. The cookie crumble was the best part and they absolutely need to double the amount included. looks like the name brand cookies, tasted like them as well. Overall a solid effort and not a bad product but I won't be restocking. I have another one to eat which may change my mind/review. As with the other dessert, the ingredients list is extensive and gave me pause. This one seems even longer.

I do my fair share of hiking in various environments with all sorts of terrain. One thing that I keep consistent is my last evening meal before my (usually) long hike out is a good one. I often lose weight quickly when hiking and find that by day 4-5, I’m running low on go juice. My plan is usually to have a fairly easy day prior to my final push off trail. I pair that with my heartiest meals of the entire hike. This dessert is how I cap off that day. It’s so good and filling. I can make it after I’ve broken down my stove or even if it’s raining. Once I even ate it as my last breakfast because I knew I had a short but strenuous hike out. I just haven’t found anything I like quite like this. Now it’s basically chocolate pudding mix with some cookie crumbles so don’t go thinking you’ll serve this off trail and impress anyone. Still for a trail dessert … yummy!

Does not taste good. Tastes chalky. Definitely needs to be cold to eat. Awful taste at room temp / warm.

This is one of my favorite freeze dried meal. It’s spicy, rehydrates well and the pieces are bite sized and perfect for on the go. I’m a travel nurse and I work 24 hours 7 days on and 7 days off. You never know what kind of situation you’ll walk into when you’re going into someone else’s home. I love these because you can eat it right out of the pack and all you need is hot water.

It’s a wonderful desert easy to make just add water or any liquid I used orange juice once because chocolate and orange are a great combination. I wish this was around when I did the most of my backpacking back in the 1970’s

Not as great as the creme bruleè, but definitely good. I wouldnt say its "cheesecakey" it didnt have that zing that cheesecake has. But id say a mix between a mouse and pudding. Regardless it was still good and id buy again
