The introduction alone is worth the money
I found the introduction to this Diary (and the 2 bonus ebooks) really helpful. The tone was refreshingly different from the hyped-up style that, imho, seems to be the norm for any self development texts from the US. I liked that the approach was supported by science-based evidence and ‘success’ wasn’t to do with money. I have used the Diary for over a month now and I am finding it very easy to maintain, 3 minutes in the morning and 3 minutes in the evening is very doable. I am also enjoying the questions that are posed at the end of each week. My only concern was, when I have completed all the pages I didn’t want to buy another copy with the same 80 page introduction. However, there is a follow-on version, with a shorter intro, and I will definitely be purchasing it in 6 months time. I am using the Diary in conjunction with the Miracle Morning devised by Hal Elrod. I like the Life SAVERS (Silence, Affirmation, Visualisation, Exercise, Reading, Scribing) element of the Miracle Morning but after reading a copy of the book that I borrowed from the public library, and, watching a documentary about it, I have chosen to cherry pick the bits I like without purchasing the book. The 6 Minute Diary advocates much of the same concepts in a more palatable way for me.

Follow the footsteps of your personal evolution
I have been using Hal Elrod’s The Miracle Morning Journal with excellent results for the past three years. This Christmas I bumped into Dominik Spenst’s The 6-Minute Diary, and I have been using it for just one week. I can hardly believe it, but it’s even better than The Miracle Morning! I love The Miracle Morning - I will continue to use it and to recommend it every time I can, because I know how good it is. But The 6-Minute Diary is in a different plane – deeper, wiser, more inspiring and revealing. The prompts are so well thought-out that in just the space of a week I have made two discoveries that completely reframed important aspects of my productivity and my relationships. The 6-Minute Diary is also much more pleasant to work with -and to look at- than The Miracle Morning – much as I love it, The Miracle Morning has all the charms of an accountant’s spread sheet (and they haven’t bothered to improve the layout in years) whereas The 6-Minute Diary has been crafted and designed with an artist’s sensibility. Am I being superficial by pointing out such things? I don't think so. This is a tool you will be using every single good or bad, happy or sad day of the year, so it only helps that it is a beauty to open and look at. I know the beautiful pages make me more thoughtful and considerate when I write in them…i.e. they nudge me to think harder before I spoil their pristine surface. Is it only me? If you had to scribble a note, however short and simple, would it make any difference if you were writing on the corner of the back page of yesterday’s newspaper or on a sheet of lovingly prepared vellum? This is what I mean – you’d force yourself to think a bit deeper before you spoiled the page. And that only helps when reflection is the whole point of the exercise. I have read hundreds of Self-Help books, and taken too many courses. I have certificates on NLP, Mindfulness and Erikssonian Hypnosis, read and written extensively on Psychoanalisis, Theory of Knowledge and CBT. And this is why I can say that the 64-page introductory section that Dominik Spenst has prepared for The 6-Minute Diary –which you could skip, but I would urge you to read attentively- is the briefest, more engagingly written and scientifically supported introduction to the topics of Positive Psychology, Habits and Self-Reflection anywhere. I was already impressed by this when a few days after I bought the Diary, Mr Spenst sent me via email a very pretty and useful pdf titled The Golden Morning Routine, which he personally sends to all customers, and which comprises five scientific arguments for the beneficial effect of a morning routine, as well as examples of the morning routines of 25 successful people, from politicians and other pop stars to Marcus Aurelius, Stephen Covey and Immanuel Kant. The 6-Minute Diary promises to be “a priceless journey into the most exciting and emotional realms of your own memory” and to allow you to “follow the footsteps of your personal evolution”(p.15). I believe it will deliver. Having only used it for a week, I’m already looking forward to more discoveries with The 6-Minute Diary as my companion.

Just get it!
Beautiful journal, with lots of great tips and sound research behind it, and yet easily understandable. The journals has an introductory section at the beginning, explaining the fundamentals of the human psyche in short which is very helpful, and the double bookmark gives you the opportunity to mark important information for future re-reading as well as where you are in your journal. The cover and the pages themselves are great quality, the paper is thick and the pen glides on the pages easily. I personally am motivated to keep on writing ( but I am a bit of a stationery lover). I am in love with the cover as well, my favourite theme and probably why I ultimately bought the journal. It may have been an impulse buy, however I have always loved the thought of appreciation in our daily lives and this may just be what I needed, as I was searching for way to improve my life and pass on a more positive legacy to my son. The questions make you think of what you will write in advance and encourages you to actually feel these things, not just to think about them. I bought this on a discounted price, however now that I know how great this is I would pay the full price for it too.

Shorter but still as good
Really loved this journal when I bought it back in 2021. I was really inconsistent with it so I've only just needed to get a new one. I repurchased from the same seller to make sure I was getting the same product. My old one was plain black and no frills. The new diary with the celestial cover is pretty and more whimsical, it's embossed with gold on the cover and has white end pages (would have been nicer if they were blue). It's as well made as my original one, sturdy spine, blue and white ribbons (good instead of white would have been a better choice). The diary pages are accented in a muted gold which is a nice improvement from the previously grey scale print. I noticed immediately that the new journal seemed smaller in volume and in a side by side comparison (new diary on the left, old one on the right) the number of daily pages are significantly fewer than the previous 2021 version which at the time said it would last for approx. 6 months with daily use. I think this one is estimated at 21 weeks which is about 4.5 months. Still, I very much like the format of this journal in comparison to others I've tried; the referenced psychology behind it's approach, the morning and evening reflections, the weekly reflective questions and the monthly 'life satisfaction' trackers. If not for the shrink-flation I'd give it a full 5 stars.

A Life Changer
I thought the introduction was too long and found I was losing concentration, I just wanted to get on with starting the diary. Once I did I found I enjoyed doing the morning and evening entries, after a while I started to look forward filling it in. It encouraged me to see the small enjoyable things that happened during each day that I hadn’t appreciated fully before. I began to see the positives of the day rather than concentrate on the negatives. The Good Deed Today made me look for things I could do to help people during my day, just small things often, but they made a difference. Sometimes I couldn’t immediately think of things for the 5 Weekly Questions so left parts blank, I always found that during the next couple of days something would come into my head and I was able to fill in all the questions. It’s made me think of things in my life that I’d forgotten about, particularly in my childhood. It’s made me value my family and friends and appreciate the small things in life. I truly believe that happiness comes from within, it’s our attitude to life that matters and how we respond to the things that will inevitably happen in all our lives as we pass through. I would urge anybody to buy this diary, it’s of good quality, well set out and a pleasure to use.

Simple habit, big mindset shift
I used The Six Minute Diary for almost a year and I’m planning to buy it again. It helped me look at my days with a more grateful, intentional perspective—just a few minutes in the morning and evening made a big difference. The prompts are simple but powerful, making me feel more present and purposeful. I especially liked how it helped me focus on small wins and set a positive tone for each day. Pro tip: Keep it by your bed to make it part of your daily routine. Highly recommended if you want a no-pressure way to reflect, feel more grounded, and build a lasting habit of gratitude.

A True Game-Changer: Review of the 6-Minute Gratitude Journal
The '6-Minute Journal' has become an indispensable part of my daily routine, and I can genuinely say it has shifted my perspective toward a more positive, mindful outlook. For anyone who has struggled to maintain a consistent journaling habit, this book offers the perfect blend of structure, simplicity, and profound psychological benefit. The genius lies in its name: it takes only six minutes a day. The journal is perfectly split into morning and evening sections, designed to bookend your day with intentionality. The morning prompts—which include listing three things you are grateful for, three things that would make today great, and a positive affirmation—are incredibly powerful for setting a proactive and optimistic tone for the next 24 hours. It forces you to define your day’s focus before distractions take hold. The evening reflection is equally valuable, asking you to recall a good deed you witnessed or performed and a great experience from the day. This simple task ensures that, no matter how stressful the day felt, you actively seek out and internalize the positive moments. Before this, I had bought and abandoned countless blank journals. The 6-Minute Journal eliminates that inertia. Its structured prompts guide your thoughts without requiring long, intimidating essays. The result is a consistent daily habit that quickly builds momentum. Over weeks, I noticed a significant decrease in my anxiety and a clearer ability to appreciate the small, beautiful things in life. If you are looking for a practical, science-backed tool to enhance your happiness, boost your self-awareness, and commit to a routine of gratitude, look no further. It’s not just a journal; it’s a framework for a more grateful and fulfilling life. Highly recommended!
