8 Inch Nylon Tube Brush Set, 12 Piece Variety Pack | for Cleaning Hard-to-Reach Spaces

I purchased the "8 Inch Nylon Tube Brush Set - Variety Pack (10 pieces)" to clean out straws. I use insulated cups with plastic and/or metal straws all day long. For years now I have fought to get the itty bitty little edges around the lip of the cups clean; mostly to no avail. The biggest problem I have had is that I have tried just about everything to get my different straws clean and normally end up throwing them out and getting a new one. Or, even getting a new cup! Unfortunately these insulated cups have gone up in price, anywhere from $4 (if your lucky enough to find them at that price) and all the way up to $25+/-! The best option I used to have was using pipe cleaners. Unfortunately, pipe cleaners bend and twist and make cleaning a straw a nightmare once they get wet. Not to mention the fact that the pipe cleaners pretty much are only good for one use.My new brush set arrived in a nice and neat zipped baggy. Love the way that I can actually just hang the ring up easily-right by the sink-to dry and wait for another use. This is a teeny tiny set, perfect for cleaning straws. Although, please be aware that the metal that the nylon brushes are on is very delicate and would probably not work on any tough scrubbing. The nylon brush parts seem very sturdy, though.I am finding more uses every day for my nylon brush set. Today I had to clean out the tip of a bottle of glue and the brushes worked great - except for the fact that I must have gotten a little rambunctious because I did bend the handle of one of the smaller brushes.The only complaint I do have is that I placed the order on August 3, 2016, received the order fast as lightning on August 6, 2016. On August 7, 2016, as I started to write my review - I noticed that the price dropped from the $5.50 I paid to $4.00! I just got this set of tube brushes from here on Amazon; I've used them once, and so far so good.I bought them for the express purpose of cleaning the spout tube of my coffee percolator from Cuisinart - the 12 cup model. I've been on a mission lately to try to clean my trusty percolator as best I can, every part, inside and out, eliminating those brown coffee stains and all that buildup.Of the 10 in the set, two worked well enough - the middle two size-wise. Of those two, the larger one was tight-fitting and really scrubbed the tube clean and the other fit looser for easier cleaning. I've never once cleaned the spout tube of my percolator, so I didn't know what to expect. I had to work the brushes hard, especially the bigger one. I worked them from both ends of the spout tube for several minutes, flushing and rinsing with tap water as I went. Let's just say I was shocked. I couldn't believe amount of build-up of old coffee! These brushes worked beautifully!These brushes were made for this application. End of story.The brushes are indeed nylon (plastic). They are strong and resilient, yet don't mar the surface they're cleaning. At least the surface I'm cleaning - stainless steel. And the handles are metal. They are are very pliable. You could easily bend them around curves in tubes, if you have such a need.I have a feeling that they will last a long time, for my application at least. Time will tell.Perfect for cleaning percolator spout tubes. Highly Recommended!

While I was hoping the bristles would be a bit stiffer on the larger diameter brushes, they seem to be good enough for most of what I want to do with them. They seem to have used the same bristles on all of them, so the bristles on the smaller diameter brushes are effectively stiffer.It has a fair variety of brush sizes. Since the bristles are not as stiff as I would have preferred, it is easy to use a larger size to get a little better result if you have to scrub something stubborn, or if you have to scrub something that is between sizes.The handles are okay, too, mostly stiff enough to do the job without being fragile. The handles of the smaller brushes are thinner wire, so they are more flexible, so more aggressive scrubbing with the smaller ones may end up with the handle also scraping the surface to be cleaned. Heavy handling could probably bend any of them rather easily.My set was shipped in an envelope, so the larger brushes arrived somewhat flattened. A cycle through an automatic dishwasher (with them suspended so they were not entangled and the brush ends did not rest on anything) restored their roundness.Overall they are each about 8 inches tip to ring, with the actual bristled length varying between about one (smaller diameter brushes) and a bit more than two inches (larger diameter brushes) long. There is some variance in overall length, but it did not seem too drastic.
