AcuRite Digital Wireless Fridge and Freezer Thermometer with Alarm, Max/Min Temperature for Home and Restaurants (00515M) 4.25" x 3.75"

This was the best purchase I made in a while. I had it measuring two different areas of a small fridge to determine variations in temperature, and it did not disappoint. Then, I purchased a "coolbox" type of tabletop cold storage and put one probe in there and kept one in the fridge. The fridge only has a dial for temp, whereas the tabletop unit had a digital setting capability. I wanted to run one vs the other, and, I used the 24hr temp history to determine fluctuations in temp, as what I'm storing needs a constant temperature. Sure enough, the coolbox beat the fridge hands down, maintaining a constant temp (once the target temp was reached) with very little fluctuation over a 24hr period, while the fridge varied from 33 to 41degrees F. I'm getting ridge of the fridge! I'd recommend this product to anyone needing to gauge temperature fluctuations and needing to determine if a piece of equipment maintains its target temp.

We have three chest freezers, two of which are out of sight in the basement and full of veggies from the garden, venison from the property and meat from our nephew's farm. The concern has been losing either one, or both if the GFCI trips, and their contents. One freezer is about a year old and the other just a couple months.I saw this system recommended on a FB group and the Amazon reviews seem favorable. So I decided to give it a try, especially since it has a WiFi connection, so the information display can be in the house, and an alarm. We can check the freezers' status at any time and the alarm will warn if we have a pending disaster.It arrived well-packaged. The box exterior is plain cardboard with a plain label just at one end. No fancy marketing! I ordered four AA Lithium batteries at the same time for the sender units, which are recommended by the manufacturer for use in freezers. After installing standard 'Copper Top' batteries in the display first, then the lithiums in the sender units, the temperatures of each sender unit appeared on the display immediately. They were the same at about 72F.To me, the instructions were clear, though it probably does help to be mechanically-inclined! I set the alarms for min and max temps and took the sender units down to the freezers. I hung them on the baskets with tie wraps as the included suction cups wouldn't have stuck on the dimpled freezer walls. The Amazon photo showing the silicone loop wrapped around itself is not very practical as the loop is small compared with the size of the sender unit and you'd have to really stretch it. Too much effort in the depths of a full freezer!When I returned to the main floor, the alarm was sounding. The displayed temperatures were slowly going down as the sender units adjusted to the freezer internal temperatures, but were higher than my max temperature settings. I pressed the "Bell" button to put the alarm to sleep. The display seems to update every few seconds, not instantaneously.After a few minutes, the displayed temps reached the freezer internal temperatures, which were just below 0 deg F. Each reading was slightly different due to being in different freezers of different makes and settings and the temps vary anyway within a few degrees as the freezer compressor cycles. 0 deg F is what is expected though for a chest freezer. I have my alarm settings at -20F and 15F for both freezers. The alarm won't go off for a few minutes if it reaches those temps. This avoids alarms when the freezer lid is opened to put in or take out food.The signal display was indicating max. strength with the display unit maybe 20 ft (straight line) away from the freezers on the floor above. Moving at least double that into the kitchen, where the signal has to pass through a thick natural stone wall in the basement, as well as the floor structure and around various steel/wood heating ducts in the floor, the strength was still high. I was impressed, considering the sender units are also inside a cold, metal box!The two small magnets on the back upper corners of the display unit, aren't quite strong enough to hold it firmly onto the refrigerator door. It slides down as the door is shut and there's a risk of it falling off and being damaged. I have it sitting on the dining room dresser, where it's out of the way, but visible. It could also be hung on a nail on the wall.While a little pricey compared with other similar units (with more 1 Star reviews!), $35 is a small price to pay to avoid spoiling all the valuable food that is in the freezers!So far the system is performing well and to design. I will update should anything go wrong!UPDATE:Several months in and the system is working just fine. After the first week or so, I noticed one of my freezers was 10 degrees or more colder than the other and unnecessarily so. I adjusted it and now I have comparable temps, though the later-purchased freezer has a wider range of temperature fluctuation , due to a less precise control system. Very pleased!

It was easy to set up. Just add batteries and wait a minute for the sensors to connect to the main unit. However, right out of the box, the two temp sensors, which are identical in specs, were 2 full degrees apart (temps are displayed to one decimal point). I guess I would expect them to be a little more accurate than that. Overall, they work as they should. I have one sensor in my refrigerator, and the other sensor in a deep freezer one room away (about 30-40 feet). The main unit is magnetically attached to the refrigerator. The base unit has no issues picking up the sensor in the other room. They only refresh once a minute, and are a bit slow to acclimate to big temperature changes. It probably took 30-45 minutes for them to get from room temp down to actual temp in the refrigerator and freezer. The base unit is easy to use, provided you read the directions. Overall, it's worth the money, especially if you have valuable items in your refrigerator or freezer, like medications that need to stay at a certain temp. Just be sure to check each sensor with another thermometer to make sure they are reasonably close in readings.

Works well, easy setup, decent range.

We have an upright and a chest freezer in our attached garage that we use this product in. Prior to that we had two older uprights that failed within a couple of months of each other. We lost almost all the food when the first one failed, as we had no idea it stopped freezing until we opened it a couple of days later. Now we know if temps rise, before it's too late. We attached the magnet mounted controller to our fridge. The other day it was very hot. My wife was puting some groceries in the freezer. Since the door was open allowing hot air to warm the freezer's interior, a loud alarm began sounding from the component on our fridge door. It isn't a sound you'd ignore, which is a good thing in this case. We've used this over a year with good success. Very pleased with this purchase.

After having the compressor go out on my LG fridge at 16 months and going without for 4, I wound up getting a replacement under the warranty. Not sure if this compressor is still the KNOWN bad one, I want to keep up with the fridge and freezer temps. That way I can transfer foods if necessary instead of losing it all because I didn't know the compressor died. I bought the standard refrigerator thermometers. The cheap ones varied as much as 8 degrees. The more expensive one seems to be reliable. BUT, I have to periodically do a manual (walk to the unit and open doors/drawers) to do this. We had a power blip last week and when I checked 40 minutes later, the temp in the fridge and the freezer had gone way up - almost to 50 for the fridge and from 0 to 20 in the freezer. Had I not needed something in the fridge, I would not have known. I pulled the plug and let it reset, plugged it back in and got the temp back to normal.That is a really long lead in as to why I bought this. I want to be able to see the current temp at a glance while I am in the living room. This unit gives me that - plus I can see updates every 15 seconds. It also shows the lowest and highest temps over the last 24 hours. I have learned that the freezer (set to 0) goes from -7 to 20. The fridge (set at 39) goes from 36 to 43. I can now set alarms for both the fridge and freezer if the temps go higher than what I feel is safe. It is obvious when the freezer goes into defrost and it doesn't stay high for too long. The range on this unit is 75 feet.I highly recommend this unit to anyone who has had temperature issues with their refrigerator and especially to those who have an LG with the 'inverter compressor'.

The AcuRite Digital Wireless Fridge and Freezer Thermometer has proven to be more accurate and reliable than other brands we have tried. The user interface is easy to navigate and alarms can be on or turned off.

I really appreciate this thermometer.I have a chest freezer in the garage and also an upright freezer. Since this item comes with two wireless remote units so I can monitor both freezers at the same time. Since the upright seems to be giving me grief it's the one I keep a close eye on. It's nice to know when it starts acting up so I can save the food. What prompted me to purchase this unit after researching other units was the ease with which it works. I have not had any issues with it. The receiving unit sits about 10 feet from the chest and 20 feet from the upright. There are no walls in between them, it's basically line of sight. I no longer have to worry about pulling ice cream and find it's melted (not cool man, not cool)

I can't attest to the specific accuracy, that it's within x degrees and so on, but what I can attest to is that it's very easy to read and it's more than accurate enough for my uses. I also love that it shows the high and low over the last 24 hours. The reason I got them is that my fridge one day lost it's temperature and some food spoiled but not enough to be obvious. We almost got sick but luckily caught it on time. As a result we bought this to monitor the temperature and it's been a great piece of mind to be able to just look at them at random times and know that the last 24 hours the fridge has always been within a certain acceptable range. They have been running on batteries for months and they are doing great. That being said I would recommend using two thermometers (why I bought this item because it comes with two) so that they can be located in different parts of the fridge. Not only does it give you more confidence that they are working and accurate at first, but later on you can locate them in different areas such as the door which has a tendency to have a lower temperature if it's been left open and so on.

... the frustration of a fridge/freezer in the garage stopping working and not noticing until a few days later, I know the pain involved in having to throw out perfectly good (and expensive) food.So, I resolved to stop it happening again and I purchased these. Reviews that are written after time and not when in the initial haze of consumer contentment always carry far more weight, in my opinion, and this is one such as I have had these since November 2022. I am writing this now because, thanks to these beauties, I managed to head off another fodder fiasco when a different fridge/freezer in the garage suddenly stopped: I fixed the problem before I had to throw anything away because I became aware of the issue in good time. At last - something I bought that actually SAVED me money !!These are fairly straightforward to set up (although to set the warning alarms takes a little effort) and I am pleased to report that the batteries (two AAs in each) I installed in both sensors over a year ago - ALWAYS use lithium ones if you want a better experience ! - are still functioning just fine (although I have changed the three AAs in the receiver unit on one occasion).I decided not to keep the alarms as I didn't want any potential beeping in the middle of the night, so I simply verify the temperatures every day. It's actually quite fun to think that you are checking on the temperature of an appliance outside of the house ! There is an easy-to-see record of the previous 24-hour's minimum and maximum temperatures at the bottom of the screen and one push of a button shows you all the lowest and highest temperatures from when you last reset the unit. All numbers are clear to read.I do think that this set is quite expensive, though (and it was £60 when I purchased it), but one's choices are somewhat limited and at least I can show that they do work, so I guess it equates to value for money - especially when one compares it with a cost of replacing the contents of a well-stocked fridge/freezer !!I have the receiver unit on the side of a fridge in the kitchen (decent magnets present) and the actual sensors are about 20 feet away in the garden behind a metal garage door; I have had no issue with signal strength.And that's about it. As is my wont, I shall update this review if anything ceases to function as it should. Las lecturas son confiables, los compré para tener más control de los alimentos que almacenamos en el refrigerador, apesar de que nuestro refrigerador tiene un display digital para ajustar la temperatura, no confiaba en la precisión y quise tener un segundo monitor con estos sensores y las lecturas son muy parecidas aproximadamente +-2 grados.La opción de sujeción no es muy buena ya que se caían constantemente, opte por simplemente dejarlo en la charola del refrigerador sin tenerlo colgado en algún lugar en específico.Muy recomendados
