Good little compact hard drive. Being using these for years and they just keep on going.

I got the 5Tb version in silver. The drive itself is great, I’ve never had a problem with WD HDs. Have to 100% agree with other reviewers though, the cable that it comes with is awful, a really poor connection that means if you move your drive or laptop a tiny amount, then it gets disconnected. After trying another cable it works beautifully, it’s just a shame they don’t supply a better quality cable, I’d pay a few quid more if that would help. So this cable will sadly be added to landfill as it’s not worth anything to anyone. One last detail too, if you can, go for another colour other than silver, as the colour is cheap looking to say the least!

USB-C

Not the fastest in the world for doing big backups to but there's not much room for improvement without switching to SSDs. But in terms of value for money, this thing is a little stormer. The included USB-C cable and adapter is one of the best I've ever used and is very unlikely to slip out of place at any point, since it requires a little force to click/unclick it into the socket of your device. Also works great with automatic Time Machine backups, no fancy complicated software to work out at all. Just bish bash bosh done. Recommended.

Ordered this item as compatible with MAC, as per description. Worked fine for a week or so, even if immediately presented a problem of loading the photo library (which I thought it was due to my new MacBook Pro).After a week or so, this 5 TB HD was loaded with over 1TB of data, among which photos and videos. It started being very slow when connected to any of my MACs, till in the end completely failed to load the data.I've tried to look for signs of life and, while still very slow, to recover some data.In the end I've lost most of the data that I've transferred to this HD... very very upsetting that something like this is even considered to be marketed!!!Never happened to me to received such a faulty or low quality product.As an act of faith I've ordered a replacement but I am worried it will present similar issues, think due to a low quality cable provided with the HD (I'll test if in fact whether the cable is the problem, at the moment unable to recover any data!!!)

USB-C External HDD works well with apple Time Machine.

Cable that came with it didn't work but Amazon customer service gave me cashback to buy a new one, and a good one at that. Very good hard drive, fast lots of space.

Well I tried to connect to Windows 10 and it had to be formatted but that meant I had to put all my photos and documents onto another storage divice bofore I could format it. I contacted Amazon asking how to do this and the assistant was trying hard to help but we could not get it connected. I had to ring MD to get some help which they were great and sent me an email with each step to connect the MD storage device to windows 10 and it was so easy. I had to purchase another smaller device from Amazon so to download my photos and documents which was extra cash in their pocket. The Device is very very good.
