A Good Companion Book To The Government Supplemental Guide
Maximize Your Medicare really helps demystify Medicare. The government supplement, Medicare & You, provides essentials, but it sure doesn't offer much interpretation or guidance. I've read a couple Medicare books; I like that this author more fully explains differences between Medigap and Medicare Advantage (Part C) policies.I read this before signing up for Medicare, and recommend others do the same. It fully explains the basics, but also touches on subjects other books don't, such as: employer-sponsored group plans, special groups (like VA, federal employees, small business owners, etc) and a special topics chapter that covers some unusual but pertinent subject matter. It's easy to find Medicare topics overwhelming. After reading this book, which also has a helpful glossary, index and bibliography, I felt better prepared in tackling some important decisions. Overall, this is the most informative Medicare book I've read to date.

Great info for newbies to medicare
Great info for newbies to medicare. We found I to be great resource and it is our go to when we have questions. Saves us a lot of time doing research on our own. I would buy the 2015 version when available.

Very Poorly Written
This book has a lot of information but is very poorly written. The misuse of words and poor grammar makes it almost unreadable. I had to turn to another source of information. I could not continue reading after the first chapter.

The writer either needs to become better grammatically and improve his spelling
The writer either needs to become better grammatically and improve his spelling, as well as correct the references to the glossary, or hire someone to do it for him. I should have purchased "Medicare for Dummies".

Easier to understand than the government's so detailed information. Read this first and then read the government's information. It helped me or I'd have never made a decision about medicare.
