Good experience with grains and seller
I am very pleased with the kefir grains and the seller. I had no experience with kefir and relied on reviews. I ordered this on a Saturday night and the grains were in my mailbox by Friday. They looked in good shape to me and were well packaged. My first attempt was maybe a half pint. The instructions were easy to follow. I gave it about 36 hours and there it was - kefir! Taste didn't inspire at first, but either the kefir matured or my taste did. I now let it sit 24 hours and do a.second ferment of 24 hours. I sip it, usually chilled. Most of my consumption is in a.fruit and veggie smoothie. This stuff reproduces like crazy. After a week I've now started two quart jars.I realize I'm only a week into kefir, but I have found i have better appetite control now. I just feel more full between meals. My dogs seem to like it too in the limited amounts i give them. So, I'm happy with it. Before long I'll have to deal with an overabundance of grains but I'll handle thatJuly 15, 2019. It's been seven months now. The kefir is still healthy and fertile. I use kefir daily and I am still very pleasedJune 4, 2023. Five years have passed now and my kefir journey has never ended. Hard to imagine the grains I bought then continue to thrive and I not only use kefir in a daily smoothie but also to ferment vegetables.

My new kefir tastes great!
The grains come in a very small container that has less than one tablespoon of grains. I know some people are skeptical about the quantity, but this really is plenty to get started. The first two small batches, cultured 24 hours, “woke up” the grains (after their shipping shock) and the third batch of one quart was creamy, slightly thick, and tasted mild and wonderful. I use 2% organic milk in a quart glass mason jar and use a stainless steel strainer and a silicone spatula to recover the grains from a batch. Ultra-pasteurized milk works well, contrary to some things I have read, which is good as it is the only milk legal to sell in my state. The grains multiply over time so I have had plenty to share with friends or to make multiple quarts at a time for my convenience. When I already have finished kefir ready to drink, I will put the finished but unstrained jars of kefir in the refrigerator for a few days until I want to start some more. I have kept unstrained kefir in the refrigerator for several weeks while traveling, with no harm to the grains. My initial purchase of grains kept going for over five years before the quality unexpectedly deteriorated and I decided to get some new ones.Edit: these kefir grains have not multiplied rapidly like what I had before, but it tastes so good and is so easy to start another jar right away that I am very happy!

If you like sour milk then these grains are good, but you really don't need grains to make sour milk
I don't know what are these grains but I know they are NOT Kefir grains because they don't produce kefir. I made at least 8 batches to give them enough time to wake up but I always end up with stinky sour milk, besides these grains are getting smaller and smaller every time I use them and I think they'll disappear completely after a few more uses. I already read about this in some reviews but I thought it was just a joke, I didn't believe it but now I know... So what kind of Kefir grains would do this? Scam kefir grains. I had better luck growing my own Kefir grains from organic Kefir drink I purchased at Amazon store or local farm. Shame on you Mr and Mrs Kefir, please take this product of the shelf.

THIS is the one to buy...
I have made Kefir for several years, since I discovered it while in Sweden, about 15 years ago. I have alwaysused whole store bought milk, until last month, when I was given some 2 percent milk. The Kefir CultureI had used for at least five years, went bad with the 2 percent milk. So time to replace the starter. The first I bought through Amazon said "freeze dried". It may have been, but it was a powder that didn't work.Next I bought this product. To make Kefir I purchased a quart jar (Microbiotica) on Amazon that has a plastic lid with a hole in the center. Through the center goes a rigid plastic tube with a wire mesh cage on the bottom.I put the new Kefir Starter from MrandMrsKefir.com in a quart jar, and filled the jar two thirds full of whole milk. I let it set for two days. The starter broke up into white balls. I drained off the milk and replaced and let set for two more days. This time I had Kefir Curds. I took these curds and put them inthe wire mesh cage on my Kefir Jar. Filled with whole milk, let set for two days, at room temp and nodirect sunlight. And presto, I was back to making Kefir. When the Kefir is done, I use a stainless steel tea stainer on the mouth of the jar to pour off the whey. After refilling the jar with whole milk, I put on the lid and then take the red plastic cover off of the top tube sticking out of the jar and blow a couple of timesthrough the tube. This helps move the kefir bacteria throughout the batch for better results. This starter should be good, with my method for years to come. Works for me!!

Good product but very little product for the price
In my opinion this is overpriced but that’s the only negative comment I have for the product. On the plus side it’s probably hard to find this starter locally at the grocery store and it does everything they say it does. When I first got it, I put it in milk and I started using the Kefir in smoothies the next day. I’m on my third batch and I’m letting it sit longer this time (from about 8 hours at first to 24 hours now). With the longer culture time it looks as if the grains are multiplying.I watched some videos on Kefir and apparently it might help with tumors. My 15 year old cat has a tumor on her nose and I put some Kefir down for her and she has been drinking it! This cat is the pickiest eater ever and will only eat dry food. I am totally shocked that she’s lapping up Kefir. If you can’t get this product cheaper or locally this is a good option because the product, as tiny as it is, does seem to work.Shipping was fast!
