English Grammar for Students of Italian: The Study Guide for those learning Italian

Extremely Useful
I am self learning Italian using two online apps. For me, telling me what to say doesn’t help if I don’t know why I am saying it. So, I also have a few books that explain Italian grammar. This by far is the most useful I have found.

I love seeing the sentences diagramed the way it was done ...
This book has been absolutely essential to my understanding of Italian parts of speech. I must admit I had forgotten much of English grammar since it had been quite awhile since elementary school for me. This guide lays out the which part of speech in particular you are trying to understand with comparisons first in English and then in Italian. It is basic, but that is exactly what I needed. I love seeing the sentences diagramed the way it was done in elementary school. Only then did it make sense to me. I can understand so much more of how Italian works thanks to this marvelous little guide book. Of the many Italian work books I've purchased in my quest to learn Italian, this one is by far the most helpful, because it will take you to the next level of speaking and reading once you grasp the positioning of the parts of speech in Italian by first understanding where and how they work in English.

Don't start with this book, but use down the road
Brilliant book. Clear explanations of English and Italian grammar and the important differences. Don't start with this book at the beginning of your language journey, wait until you reach the late beginner stage. It will will clarify all those nagging uncertainties!

An absolutely essential booklet for a native English speaker learning a foreign language
If you are one of those many native English speakers who never quite mastered your own grammar, you will find this booklet invaluable in explaining such matters as what makes a word an adverb, what is a subject pronoun or what is a definite article. A native English speaker can learn English as a child without knowing many of such terms. However, you pretty much need to know those terms when learning a foreign language as an adult. This booklet is brilliantly brief, to the point and clear in its simple explanations.I wouldn't go to Italian class, Spanish class or practically any other foreign language class without out it. And if you do buy this little manual, you will soon be telling me "Grazie," "Gracias" or other such international forms of gratitude.

Very useful if it's been a long time since you took English in school!
I'm about a year and a half into studying Italian, still concentrating on grammar. Naturally the explanations for how parts of speech are used in Italian reference the way these parts of speech are used in English. That's not very helpful if it's been a looooong time since you studied English grammar and don't remember indirect objects etc. This handy book condenses a lot of grammar with English and Italian versions plus comments about differences in usage between the two languages. Each topic (of 40 +) takes a couple pages. For me, this book has already proved well worth the price. I highly recommend it if you're a native English speaker struggling to learn Italian grammar and sentence construction.

Very Good.
This book provided the explanation of the English grammar first and then it explained and compared the differences of the Italian grammar. It doesn't have every rule but it gives you the basics that one learns during a full beginner's year. I found it helped me- I don't like grammar in any language which makes it more difficult to learn- this book made it easier to understand the rules.

Small, but surprisingly inrofmative
I wouldn't say that this book is exhaustive or a complete grammar guide, but it lives up to it's name. It's a great resource. I'm glad I purchased it. I enjoyed reading through it.

English Grammar For Students Of Italian: The Study Guide For Those Learning Italian, Third Edition (O&H Study Guides)
I thought this book was a good reference and a good resource for those learning Italian like myself. I really liked how the book laid out various part of speech and grammar and explained the concept both in terms of English (which I found to be a good review) and in Italian. Though I think this book is a good resource, I don’t think it should be the sole resource for learning Italian. I think one should use other Italian language resources along with this book to get a more complete understanding of the language. I also think it would be wise to review and spend more time on the harder gematrical aspects of Italian and try to find an Italian native speaker, if possible to help walk you through some of the finer gematrical points the book covers. All in all though I found it to be a great resource! I would recommend it!

Must have for those learning Italian!
What a great reference! I honestly don’t remember learning all the names of the parts of the English language, so that makes learning some concepts in Italian difficult. This makes it easy when trying to develop grammar skills. Highly recommend!

I'm learning Italian but struggling with the grammar concepts. In this book, they are explained in English, but examples are given in Italian. It's proving very helpful. The book arrived on time, carefully packaged and in perfect condition.

Helpful book
Am struggling to learn Italian. This book is a useful revision of the English grammar that I learnt at school sixty years ago. It relates that to Italian grammar, and it is a very welcome help in my efforts.
