Works great!
This was exactly what I was looking for! I bought a 2009 Honda Fit Sport about 2 months ago and wanted more then just the stock arm rest to share with my wife on our trip from Mississippi to California this Christmas.INSTALL:I found a great post on a fitfreak dot net that had excellent instructions (including pictures). Using these instructions it took me no time at all to install. I do want to give fair warning that this may seem like a fairly intensive installation but for anyone that has done any basic work on cars it will be fairly easy (just go to the site and look for yourself).QUALITY:It seems to be really sturdy and quality built. I like that it folds up and the built in compartment is small but could hold a cell phone or other small, skinny objects.Over all I think that it is worth then difference in price from the $75 drop in model and would recommend it to anyone that is tired of not having a center console.

Storage - No. Armrest - Yes
I'm disappointed. I purchased this armrest console with storage -- but the storage area was EXTREMELY small. Nowhere in the description or the customer questions did I see any info about the dimensions of the storage. But judging from the picture, it looks like the storage would be much more than what is actually available once the padded lid is open. I didn't measure the dimensions of the storage, after opening up the lid, it seemed as though the space was very shallow - and much shorter in length than what would be expected by looking at the picture. Seriously -- it's quite small. Do not purchase this thinking this item has storage for much. Maybe a pack of cigarettes, or a small iphone could fit in there. I was planning to put my GPS screen in there and it wouldn't fit.I spent 196.98 for this part, including the shipping cost. Installation costs by a mechanic are higher than anticipated. Figure a good hour of work. The two shop mechanics I spoke with didn't want to install it. Got a body shop who said it would cost well over $100.I returned the part. This purchase was definitely a time waster and an expensive mistake due to costs of shipping both ways, and a hefty re-stocking fee. I had a center armrest / storage console in my Toyota that was spacious in comparison to this. This part is really an armrest only and a place to put some coins.

It was harder to install than I thought, and the storage compartment is too small to accommodate a box of tissues.

Why this isn't standard, I'll never know...
I just bought a 2013 Honda Fit after my 2006 Civic got totaled. I love everything about the Fit, with the sole exception of the stock armrest. It was too skinny for even one arm, let alone sharing it with my partner. First order of business was investigating alternatives, which was how I found this. I checked out YouTube videos to see how hard it was to install this armrest - looked easy enough, so I figured I'd save some money on labor by doing it myself. I only needed a hole cutter drill bit, which I also got on Amazon; everything else I had.Overall, it took me about two hours to get the console installed correctly, and it works great! The one problem I had was bolting the new bracket into place with the emergency brake bracket. I couldn't get the bolt holes to all line up; I eventually had to use a screwdriver for leverage to hold the brackets in place while I put a bolt in to hold it all down. The YouTube video was far more helpful than the instructions.I'm quite happy with the console - it's sturdy and of great quality. I do wish that it was a little bit longer in lieu of the extending top piece. It's too short in its retracted position for two elbows, yet the extended position makes it look less sharp (in my opinion). And the storage space is really small - barely big enough for a checkbook and some gum. But complaints aside, it's far better than the stock armrest, and I got a great feeling of accomplishment from installing it myself!

Great materials, mounting is not as solid as I'd like
Materials are great quality, but this item is let down somewhat by the mounting method. It is pretty solidly mounted at the rear of the armrest, but the front part of the mounting isn't nearly as solid, so it does move slightly when pressure is applied to it. Great leather surface which is far easier to clean than the black fabric of the stock arm. The adjustments are very useful, and the added storage makes up for the lost storage taken up during the installation process. The hardest part of the install is the 20mm hole needed in the rear portion of the center console. If you can find a small hole saw, it would be much easier, but I was able to use the biggest drill bit to make a hole in the center of the crosshair marking for the 20mm holes, then used a silver Sharpie marker to better outline the molded markings inside the console. I then used a small drill bit to make close holes around the circumference of circle, then snipped out the rest of it with cutting pliers. A Dremel sandpaper drum attachment to smooth up the effort and it was good. So... just buy the hole saw. ;)

Well made and sturdy. Looks great in our base Honda Fit and is very comfortable. The directions called for a metric size hole which is impossible to find one that size so used a close english equivalent (after a HD run) without issue.

Not worth it
I got this installed at the dealer. If you're getting it hoping to have more storage capacity, then you're getting this for the wrong reason. My dad's SUV has a center console which has two layers of storage. This has only one, and is tiny, too. I can fit my garage door opener in it, and that's about it. Can't even fit my sunglasses in there, too... That's not even getting into the fact that it eats up several cupholders, which ultimately means you aren't gaining any storage space. If you can get the dealer to give you this for free/cheap, it might be worth it. But there was nothing wrong with the armrests that came with the car, and this thing is horribly overpriced for how little functionality it has.Additional thought: if you extend the armrest out horizontally, it partially covers the e-brake.
