Analog to Digital Audio Converter for AUX RCA to Optical Coaxial Compatible with TV Amplifier Speaker Soundbar Home Theater

I needed this analog to digital converter to get audio from my Sony TV to a Sonos Beam. It works PERFECTLY and with its metal case, it feels and looks as good as you could hope for. Mine came with one cable--mini usb to usb-A (male to male). No optical cable and no RCA cable. That's okay, because I did not need those and I don't think they were offered with this product. No charger for the USB either, but I have plenty of those--especially in mini usb. Background: I have a single HDMI cable running through the wall to my Sony TV. I used to have a Yamaha A/V system for sound and HDMI switching, but I wanted to go Sonos and I was given a CAAVO Control Unit to use for HDMI switching. So with that setup, you'd use the optical out on the TV with the Sonos dongle. However, my optical out (Toslink) on the Sony TV is busted. So, to avoid a complete disaster: return the Beam, get rid of the CAAVO, go back to using the A/V Unit, could I go from the 3.5 headphone out on the Sony, to this Analog to Digital Audio Converter, Toslink out, Sonos dongle, to HDMI into Beam. The amazing answer is, YES! Am I losing all kinds of fidelity and audio options from the TV? Sure, I guess, but it sounds fine and none of that matters when the Sonos Beam is playing music from its own sources. Plus, I can now tap once on my Sonos Move and take the sounds of TV (think sports) outside. I'm sure you won't be able to go from 3.5 analog stereo to 7.1 surround, but that's not what I was after. I wanted to get TV audio to my Sonos system without digging into my wall or buying a new TV. This worked like a charm for this need seconds after I opened the box. Kudos Tiancai for being the missing part to get my Sony, CAAVO, Sonos system working!

This device works great. I spent some time looking for the correct one and I think I found it. I have a TV but it isn't equiped with an optical audio output, however, I used the 3.5 headphone jack from the TV to this Digital Converter and also purchased an optical Amazon Cable and connected it to a Samsung Sound Bar. The audio es surprisingly good, then more than that, the sound bar came with an option ao automatic shut Off when you turn Off the TV, but only if using the optical input on the sound bar... guess what, it does that! So, I don't have to power On or Off the sound bar since this option is controlled now from the TV. Value for money.

First time when I connected it , I thought it may be faulty. I was able to hear very light sound from speaker with lot of disturbance noise/ hissing sound around. Tried audio cables with RCA, 3.5 mm etc. did not work. Thought of returning it and then thought of trying something and it worked. I was giving power to this converter from usb port of tv and probably that could be the issue. When I powered it with cellphone plug, it worked as expected. Now my TV is connected with sound bar and I could enjoy the great sound. What a difference compared to TV sound vs soundbar sound. I would recommend it.

There is a High Pitched whiny noise (like tinnitus) when using optical out (either one) with the analog input (either one). I have this attached to a Focusrite 18i20 via optical connection. I purchased this specifically to get the 48Khz sync for the Focusrite. But it's too noisy. UPDATE: I switched the USB power adaptor I was using to a battery (which should have no noise), and the whine went away, so it's probably PSU noise from the switching circuit contaminating the device at the 5V input. ..There is still a good amount of the usual/normal white noise at high volume being caused by this device (goes away if I unplug it). Leaving this at 1star because it's clear this device does not have power filtering to get rid of noise, and didn't come with it's own power supply to ensure low noise... it's left up to the user to get a quality output, which... isn't the most ideal.

Item works as advertised but does not come with a "Power Adapter". It comes with the A-D converter and a USB cable. You have to provide USB power to it with a 3rd party device.

I bought this to connect audio out from my mackie big knob (trs->rca) and have that signal go over adat from this device to a TC Electronic clarity monitor. Worked perfectly. Just had to select 'digital input' on the clarity, and was seeing all the waveform/spectrums etc of the audio being played.
