I'd take this over an M65 field jacket any day
Item delivered was exactly as advertised. Material is 80% cotton and 10% polyester, and it's thickness is about on par with the M65 field jacket shell. Think of it as an M65 without a liner, which in my opinion is a good thing, as it allows you to layer better in cold weather. Quality of the parka, is as others have noted, top notch. The Germans definitely got it right with this parka. Whoever does uniform design for the US armed forces should take note. While I love my ECWCS parka, there are times in the field when you need a good field jacket (which in the GOV's infinite wisdom isn't even issued anymore), and this parka is awesome. I'd take it over my beloved M65 field jacket any day.Sizing:Pay attention to the review where the author posts the entire GR sizing chart. It is accurate. I'm 5'10", weigh 175 pounds. A medium regular BDU shirt (blouse) fits me perfectly. I ordered a GR 10, and the fit is nearly perfect. Maybe a little large around the chest by about an inch, but I expected that after paying close attention to the GR sizing chart and doing my metric conversions to inchs. (a Medium regular BDU shirt is up to 41" chest and 70 or 71" height") Length wise, it is a little long, but I expected this as well. The parka's length just covers my entire buttocks. If your build is close to or similar to mine, i would strongly recommend ordering GR10, and would strongly NOT recommend ordering GR 12, 16, 19, etc. Again, pay close attention to the sizing chart provided in one of the customer reviews.GR flag patchs:If for whatever reasons you want to remove the cloth flag patches, be advised. The stitching is very close. You'll have to be very careful about removing the patches. In parts of the stitching, it was so close, that I believe the fabric was weakened a bit after removing the patch and the stitching holding the patch on. The Germans really made this parka to last, and these flags are nigh unto a permanent fixture. After removing the patch, holding up to the light, exactly where all the stitching was. If your like me and just can't wear the flag of any nation but your own. Remove patch VERY carefully. One stitch at a time. Was the parka in luke warm water, and toss it in the dryer at a medium heat with a dryer sheet. That will help the fabric "fill in" the thread holes. You may even consider sewing on a velcro patch later to reinforce the material where the German patch was.All in all, one of the best purchases of field kit I ever made on amazon. A LOT of bang for your buck.

Good material.
Zipper pull fell off. Disappoiment only for the quality of zipper. Good material.

Not as pictured
The parka I received was not as shown in the ad. It was the earlier, much lightercolored version referred to by one of the earlier reviewers. A disappointment.Of course, I could go through the return process and try again; but that's anotherhour out of my life I would prefer to devote to something else.

Nice Parka!
Nice parka at a great price! I'm 5-8", 185 lbs, 44 Regular Chest and the gr-10 fit me perfectly with Xtra room in the chest for layering. This isn't a cold weather parka without a liner and is not waterproof/resistant without treatment. Mine is 80% cotton and 20% polyester. This is a great mild weather jacket that should be good through fall. Works great with my war belt.

it is just about perfect. I think the idea is to be able ...
Arrived in new condition, very well made. The camo pattern and brightness are as appears on the picture. I am 6'1" and weigh about 180 pounds. I ordered an XL and fits just about perfectly. I plan on wearing it as a shell in the winter (northern Minnesota) and I have plenty of room for thick layering. If I was wearing it in warmer conditions with less layering, I think a size Large would have worked well. I only have a couple of very minor complaints-the zipper is left handed as others have mentioned and the wrists are a little tight (and I don't have large arms). You can adjust the wrist opening with velcro tab, but the range isn't quite large enough. If the tab is off, it is just about perfect. I think the idea is to be able to seal out snow, not sure though. Overall, still great!

Great quality at a low price. 5'10" 175 pounds, GR10 fit with room to spare.
The German Army Flecktarn Parka sold by European Military is an excellent jacket that does not break the bank. The quality and detail of it is excellent. I am 5'10" and 175 pounds, and GR10 fit me with room to put a sweater underneath.
