Perfect for 5th gen 4Runner
The Toyota Oil Filter Cap has proven to be an essential upgrade for my 2018 4Runner. I decided to make the switch from the original plastic cap to this sturdy, metal replacement, and I couldn't be happier with the results. One crucial piece of advice for potential buyers is to remember to transfer your original oil filler tube to this cap, as it's not included. The great thing is that the original tube is the correct length, ensuring a seamless fit with the new cap. Once this swap is done, you're left with a robust and durable oil filter cap that's built to withstand the test of time. This upgrade brings added peace of mind to every oil change, knowing that your filter system is now backed by a metal cap that can handle the wear and tear of routine maintenance. If you own a 4Runner and want to enhance the longevity and reliability of your oil filter system, the Toyota Oil Filter Cap is an excellent investment. It's a small change that makes a significant difference in the long-term performance of your vehicle.

Worth it to upgrade
Great replacement for the plastic OEM oil filter housing that came on our 2012 Toyota RAV4. A couple oil changes later and it's still not leaking. Definitely worth the upgrade and lasts. This one is much easier to remove and install than the flimsy plastic one too!

Works on most Toyota, despite what Amazon says.
No issues. Glad I had this on hand. I purchased this for my Tacoma, but while changing my wife's Rav4, her oil filter cap/assembly broke while trying to remove. The stealership had way over-tightened it on the last service. This worked perfectly. Don't forget to add two o-rings (available when purchasing the filter) and keep the quarter sized plug that is on the outside of the old cap.

Best replacement metal filter
This is the best metal filter for your Toyota, it fits perfectly and replacing the metal inner tube was a breeze. This will last longer than the plastic one, highly recommended!

Make sure the Large o-ring is properly seated when installing.
Replaced the plastic cap that came with my 2014 Camry hybrid with this. Much sturdier and went on much easier. I am taking off a star because after doing my oil charge, I went for a quick ride around the block, got back to my driveway and saw that I had been spewing out oil the entire time. I spewed out most of the oil I had just put in. I jacked the car back up to see what had gone wrong, and saw that the seal (o-ring) was outside of the connection. I took the cap off, put the seal in the right place, put the cap back on (making sure that the seal stayed in place this time, refiled the oil, and haven't noticed any problems. I've been changing my own oil since I was a teenager, and this was the second time I've done it on this car (the first time I broke the plastic cap, but was able to mostly fix it with JB weld, however it leaked, so I got this one to replace it), so I am doubtful; of user error on my part, but acknowledge that I don't really know for sure, so I'm taking off 1 star.

Fits 2021 Toyota Highlander V6
I received a genuine part with OEM box, part number printed on it etc., like from a dealer. Reason why this is cheaper is because it doesn't include O-rings and the drain plug.If you watched videos of some people advocating the "composite" (po$ plastic) over the aluminum oil cartridge housing like this one, well, perhaps they might be interested in my new "composite" engine for sale.Original plastic broke even with proper adapter tool / oil filter wrench. Found out only after putting it back leaving a nice hole for oil to leak out. After a bit of research, ordered this part and had no issues when assembling back. This part does NOT come with drain plug or any o-rings or washers. Save the metal drain plug from the old composite and use it on this as it is same thread/fit. Make sure to use the new o-rings that come with a new filter cartridge.Dealer charges around $52 for a new composite canister while going rate is around $37 for the aluminum version! So, you pay more for something that is prone to break easily! This metal version is used on previous v6 engines on other models like Sienna, Tacoma, TRD pro and other makes from Toyota on the same engine/variants!!! That's what made it so perplexing to me. There are no advantages in weight reduction or anything else. So, why Toyota did this is beyond me and I'll research to find more.In mean time, I drove over 350 miles after installing this part and there are no leaks or issues. Had I known this issue before, I would've replaced it even if it wasn't broken.Things to know:Oil filters have bypass valves if filter gets clogged. This part came with the correct length oil tube (same as the plastic) for the filter. If you are doing this mod, make sure the length is same because other engines/models may have longer tubes for bigger filters. Look online for comparison pics.As always, it is YOUR responsibility to make sure fit and performance on your engine. I am only sharing my experience.

Should have been a factory part. All trucks should have this one.
This is an OEM part that should have come standard on Tacoma's. I can see how the plastic part would be ok on the cars it fits, but the trucks should have had this part.
