The Dark Pictures Anthology - Man of Medan (Xbox One)

I played this game with my girlfriend and not gonna lie we had a good time. The multiplayer switching between players is really innovative and hope other survival horror/choose your own adventure games follow suit.That being said there are still a lot of issues with this game that really held it back from being really good.First is the amount of choices and options. It feels much more like your watching a movie, which is cool in a sense but there are multiple times you want characters to do things that there's no option for. There is also very little dialogue. In the beginning there's a bit but as the game goes on it seems less and less interactive.The walking speed and really lack of anything to do is another major issue. I really do like the walking around creepy hallways with random scares especially the subtle scary things in the background, like someone running by behind you. I wish there was more of this. The controls aren't great though and your literally just controlling someone walking but it feels wonky. One part of the game I missed out on picking something up because the walking mechanic was so bad.I don't know why you couldn't play the more exciting scenes, like the running from enemies, there were a few quick time events thrown in but ultimately not as interactive as I would have liked. Why can't I control someone running? Why is that not a thing.The length of the game was also a little disappointing, very short.The last big problem I had with this game is the twistSPOILERSS!!The end of the game really ruined the story for me. It is revealed that all the cool supernatural activity is literally just hallucinations caused by gas on the ship. This really ruined the horror element of the game for me. Nothing after I learned this was scary. I was just like oh they are imagining this too and I was right. It's just a strange choice especially in a game where pictures on the wall give you premonitions and there is an omnipresent narrator. It sort of destroys replay value a little because I know its all hallucinations. Just a really bad story choice in my opinion. I bought this game because I love supernatural horrors and given that half of this game is just that, the twist is really like a bad bait and switch.

I enjoyed this game. While it can be played through in a few hours it does have multiple endings. I enjoyed the movie style play. There is very little room for error so when someone dies, their dead but there's always the next time you play. The story didn't end as expected but is worth multiple playthroughs. ENJOY!
