I saw an advertisement of such a product on line and I start a research.I drive a 2013 F150 STX. I refuse to permanently modify or install something that would alter anything on the truck. This shock was the solution for me. If I want I can uninstall it and no one will know something was there.The instructions are not very clear but is very easy as long as you understand that you need to very easily remove a tailgate cover to introduce the nut/shaft that will catch the shock base.No need to catch the very heavy tail gate again!At this price is a great purchase for my STX.Make sure you are purchasing the right product for you tail gate!

I have a 2005 F150 and my installation was a breeze and this is definitely a game changer. Some reviewers noted that there was resistance when closing the tailgate, that was not my experience at all. There is little to no resistance for me. I chose this over other versions because I did not want to deal with the expansion nut failing and then having to drill it out. This uses a proper backing nut so much less likely to fail. Honestly think I could have bought the cheaper one and come up with my own solution to get the nut down in there, if not almost being able to reach it by hand. For a few bucks extra this is easy and cheap enough though.

It took a very long time for delivery, that said, it came way over packaged and was in perfect condition when I opened it. Each component part was packaged in a way that during shipping they didn't rattle against each other so the paint/powder coating wasn't scratched. the instructions were easy to follow both in script and a corresponding picture. I definitely picked the best part for the money and would recommend this kit over the higher cost kits that placed side by side appear to be the same parts.

I did get this to work on my 2013 Ford F150 Lariat ,first let me say my tail gate has the step and also the handle on it ,that handle has to come off first before you can ever get to the cover then the underneath doe not look anything like the instructions there was only a small hole on the inside of my tailgate and you could not get you hand in there to start the new stud thats at the bottom of tailgate also I did not cut anything of the included metal bracket that had the nut welded on it so it took some changing a few things to finally make it work right to finish the install ,and it does work properly

I put one on both my 2013, and my 2018 F-150s. Great shock. Installs in 15 minutes. All tools included.

Will buy again for another vehicle.
