Fluke 1587 Insulation Multimeter, LCD Display, 2 Gigaohms Insulation Resistance, Up to 1000V Insulation Test Voltage

Great product. Came earlier than expected. Works like a champ. Is used in rigorous oilfield settings for charging accumulators (temp setting) to 11kpsi and for high voltages/amperages. Also utilize the IR setting for all cabling we install. Great meter at a great price.

I love this tester! Haven't really had a chance to run any insulation tests as of yet... But have been playing around with it on a job. Currently demoing out old wiring and decided to test out the megger. So I tested a like that was looking find that was to be removed and found several locations that were staples too har when originally installed. The remaining features are exactly as I would expect from fluke. I used this tester and my old ddm to messure the voltage in a panel I was having issues with and the measurements were spot on! I would recommend this to any electrician or building maintaince guy that needed to run insulation testing and needed a good ddm UPDATE This last week 1/18/13 had a fire job at a hotel had to megger out every branch circuit from the 3rd to the 1st fl and feeder from the 7th to the 1st fl and this tester preformed above and beyond expectations. It operated non stop for 13+ hours of testing with no changing of battiers. A coworker of mine was testing at another job site with an older hand crank model and had only 30 or so circuits to test and it took 2 full working days... I was able to test out more circuits with more accurate readings in less time with no issues. This is by far my favorite DDM tester!

Used on capacitors and a motor already and the test results were spot on. Very pleased with this meter. Expensive but you need good tools if your doing professional work and do not have time to mess around with unknown results with other methods.

I had a electrical short with my 20KW Wind Turbine and needed to isolate where the short was occurring. I needed to conduct a High Potential test and I chose the Fluke 1587 to do the job. It performed flawlessly, and I found the Field Line that was shorting to ground. The other reason I selected the Fluke 1587 vice the 1507 was that it has other test capabilities vice only insulation testing. I did not want the Fluke 1507 to be sitting on the shelf until the next High Potential test was needed. The Fluke 1587 cost a little more then the 1507, but I plan to use it for other uses. For best bang for the buck, my choice was the 1587.

This tool is great for anyone doing general electrical repairs. The high voltage insulation test function is great to have built in a DMM. I would use this meter for everything if it was not so expensive to replace. The only thing disappointing about Fluke tools is the fact that most of their products are made outside of the USA now and they are priced as if they are made here. I may consider another brand for my next meter.

My 3rd meager capable meter and my favorite by far. This meter does it all and it's a Fluke so it'll last forever! Very high quality meter!
