Help !

I have used “the original” pump for many years. Recently, it melted as it was too close to a burner on my stove.The Vinabon I ordered to replace it, simply does not work.! I can pump and pump and pump and it continues to go up and down with ease while it should take hold and tighten. It doesn’t.I can feel the air being released and even smell the wine as I pump but it does not “lock”.My recourse will be to return this purchase unless you can solve the problem.What should I do?Note: above was written with my first delivery. I am ready to take item to UPS for return . I will second-try the new VINABON . It is scheduled to arrive today. I hope it will work.
