Great Charger
So far, working like a champ! Professionally installed… I recommend you have it installed by a licensed electrician!

Hard to beat
There are a lot of EV home chargers out there, including the ones that are included in the trunk of most Electric Vehicles, so I did my homework before I ultimately decided on this one, and in my opinion, it's the best one on the market. The main reasons I decided on this one are it's flexible power rating, and software. PROS: 1. Flexible Power Rating. You can plug this into a 240 volt power outlet with a choice of two plugs, OR have it hard wired by a professional. You can get more power when it's hard wired and the output can vary depending on the size of your circuit breaker. It can be configured with breakers ranging from 20 to 80 Amps. The higher the Amps, the more power you can draw, giving you more miles of power per hour. Mine is configured with a 60 Amp circuit breaker, so I can get about 37 miles each hour... which is amazing. 2. Software. I LOVE their App because it's easy to configure the charger (plug vs hard wired, amps, make / model of your car, etc.), and it tracks all your charging activity at home AND when using other ChargePoint chargers on the road. Not only that, it even lets you track costs based on your regional electric company and plan. This is IMPORTANT... I learned that most electric companies offer off-peak pricing and their App can schedule your charges after hours when the price drops dramatically. In New York City for example, the price drops from about 25 cents per KWh to 1.6 cents between 12am and 8am. That 8 hour window is plenty of time to fully charge most EVs, so it's literally 15 TIMES CHEAPER. With that in mind, the App can tell you exactly how much you've spent on charging using each pricing plan your electric company offers so you can see the exact amount you saved by switching to time of day billing. 3. I love the MAPS feature. This may sound odd for a home charger, but that's the real advantage of this particular company. They offer a huge network of chargers across the country, and I can use the same exact App to not only track my charging at home and on the road, but I now use the App via Apple CarPlay to find the nearest chargers when I'm on the road. They show you exactly where all their chargers are, but just about every charger network out there, including pricing, power ratings, availability, distance, and directions. 4. EXCELLENT US Customer Service. I had a few questions before I had it installed, so I called their customer service and within a couple of minutes had an great conversation with one of their support people. He understood my questions and answered them clearly. CONS - None, except it's a bit more expensive than some other companies. In my opinion, it's worth every cent. The entire experience has been outstanding. Simply stated, this is a no-brainer. The low power home chargers they include with your EV are really meant for travel, so leave them in your car and get one of these. I felt so great pulling up to my driveway, and simply plugging in.

charger works great!
Stand by. This might get a little long. The turnaround to get the charger was quick. I ordered on a Saturday and it arrived on Tuesday. Scheduled installation of a 240V outlet. No problems there. I needed customer support to help get it registered. The app works great, but... When installing and setting up your account, make sure that you select the proper country. Yeah, I know, but I was at the dealer buying my car and I might have been a little distracted. This was the root cause of my issues. I had to create a new account with a different email address to complete setup. Here are some of the things to keep in mind. If you use a VPN, you might want to set it up by turning off wifi on your phone and setting it up as a hot spot. Then connect your EVSE to your hotspot to complete the setup. Once complete, you can change it back to your home network. Don't forget to turn off the hot spot when you are done. Conducted a quick charge to test out. Charged from 60-90% in just over 2 hours. The charge rate was 9.6kW or ~40 amps. This compares to the 6kW (32a) that is available at work. Work charging is free, so that is nice. If you want more than 40amps, you will need to hard wire it. I didn't go this way because a hard wired installation requires permits in my state. Anyway, I am happy with the charger so far, it is fairly easy to use, it is well built, app integration is good and if you have a 240v outlet available, you only have to mount it with 3 screws. Mount it to a stud and you are golden. I hope this was helpful and I would recommend this EVSE to anyone.

Customer Support for this product is abysmal
When the product works, it works well and seems to be a decent product. If you have issues with it and have to contact support for a replacement, that's where the company fails utterly. Networking on our device failed a month ago. I called support then and went through all their troubleshooting steps and they determined we needed a replacement and referred the case to their level two support team who were supposed to contact me within 48 hours. They never did. Nor did the first person fully document in the case notes that all the troubleshooting steps had been done. Chargepoint says that the device will still charge even without a network connection, but what they do not make clear is that it will charge at the lowest possible speed in that case. I could use the 120v charger that came with the car and get the same results. I had to call back after a couple of weeks and open a new case with them since they didn't move the original case forward. The phone tech understood that I had completed all the troubleshooting steps previously in the first case and pushed the case to level 2. One step I did try during the second call was to unplug and replug the device. It didn't power back on during the call and I told the tech this, and he noted it in the case. The unit miraculously powered on the following day. This was the only time level 2 support reached out to us and it was to tell us that we hadn't done the troubleshooting steps (because the device didn't power on). So I called a third time and went through all the troubleshooting again. They confirmed the device's networking wasn't working (which was the original issue), notated that we completed all the troubleshooting, and pushed it to level 2 support for a replacement (which is what the tech on the very first call did). Level 2 support was supposed to contact me in 48 hours with details about the replacement. Five days later, I still hadn't been contacted by them, so I called in again and had the case escalated. I was told I'd be contacted within 2 hours. After two days I still hadn't heard from level 2 support so I called in again, and was told it was escalated again. I asked to speak to Level 2 support but was told they don't have phone access. I asked to speak to a supervisor who told me the case has been escalated and that level 2 support would contact me. This wasn't acceptable to me so i pushed for an explanation. It appears that they are having "supply chain" issues and do not have any replacements to ship, nor do they know when some will be available. That at least is an answer which is something that should have been communicated to us by level 2 support at some point over the past month, but wasn't. So I have a device that barely works, that they agreed should be replaced but they have no idea when they will be able to replace it. This makes me wonder how they would be able to fulfill any new orders for the product. Honestly, if we weren't already invested in this device and they weren't so expensive, I'd cut our losses and get something different. As it is we are stuck with this unless we want to drop a bunch of money on a different provider. The thing worked fine for most of a year, but at this price point, this shouldn't be something that only lasts a year.

UPDATE: I have charged our EV outdoors several times over the last few weeks when we've had temperatures at or near -30°C and can report that the ChargePoint cord remained surprisingly flexible and pliable and easy to wind up. The ChargePoint might be the EVSE with the very best cold weather cord available. I've seen online reviews that made the same claim, but I can attest to the ChargePoint cable remaining flexible at extremely cold temperatures. The app makes this ridiculously easy to activate as it guides you through the process step by step. The programability, smart features like demand response charging, the available extensive geeky charging tracking data, and Energy Star rating are features that few other EVSEs even offer. I like that its default version is plug in and that you can opt for either NEMA 14-50 or 6-50. However, it is the design and build quality of the ChargePoint Home Flex that impressed me most. ChargePoint takes great care in doing everything exceptionally well, from their instructional videos, to the packaging, to the list of included features, and the fit, finish, and the quality of the engineering and construction. As a professional who deals with electronic circuits, I appreciate the elegance and flow of how the charge cable connects to the unit. A seemingly simple thing that many people might not even notice, but it reveals how much attention to detail ChargePoint shows. The Home Flex does everything I want a level 2 EVSE to do, and it does those things very well, and it is designed to be efficient and ultimately save money by obtaining electricity at the lowest rates possible. It is not cheap, but here in Canada as of now there are at least three or four other smart chargers which are all more expensive and arguably do not have as many features. When you consider its construction quality, its features, and its ability to receive software updates via WiFi, on balance I think it is a good value for the money. Originally I was hesitant because of the purchase price, but I'm glad I decided to buy the ChargePoint. I've been impressed with the ChargePoint public chargers I've used and I'm even more impressed with the Home Flex. I really have no complaints at all about this charger.

The installation and setup of this charger was easy. It looks to be well built, and works well. I’ve had no issues with the WiFi connectivity, or with the ChargePoint App. It charges my Hyundai Kona fast. I have it setup on a 40A breaker, so it charges at 31A (7.5 kW). The only downside is that I wish the charge cable was a few feet longer, which would give me the option to charge the car while it was outside (as well as in the garage), if my setup location could have been different, this would have been possible with the current length of cable, but I was limited to where I could install it in my garage.

This charger works great. It was really easy to install, looks great and is sturdy enough. The cable is long enough and remains flexible in the freezing Quebec winters. I'd like it to be even more robust but it is not too bad.

UPDATE: if I could rate zero. I would. Atrocious customer service. Spend your money elsewhere, if anything goes wrong (which is very likely based on the known wifi issue) you will lose hours dealing with incompetence, total lack of care and accountability, negligence and non-existent customer service protocols and processes. If I had a Time Machine I would go back to the day I purchased this thing; and bought something else. —————- Original Review: Wifi capability just died out of nowhere…which lead me to uncover this is a well known issue and the only fix is to replace the charger under warranty - which should be a straightforward process given the fact that this is a very common, well documented problem. The challenge is without wifi connectivity to the charger you are unable to change the charging output and it defaults to the lowest setting so you might as well just use a standard wall socket. They do everything in their power to make the process convoluted, lengthy and cumbersome; all the while encouraging you to just deal with the retailer for a refund/replacement at each step of the way. Terrible customer experience and customer service strategy. If working, it’s a solid product. No questions. If it doesn’t however, it’s a painful game of customer service pinball…with you being the ball, to be clear. A product and company is not defined by when things are working; but how they approach and resolve problems, when things aren’t working. Given this foresight, I would NOT have made this purchase. Period.
