Former addict
This book along with Gary Wilson book "Your brain on Porn" gave me all of the tools needed to fight with this terrible addiction. I wish someone have told me about the very bad consequences of using porn at an earlier stage of my life. This book talks about the different topics such as the consequences of using porn, stories of porn users, how to fight urges, relapses and what to learn from them and new approach for sex. "The porn trap" does not go into details about the neuroscience of this addiction; "Your brain on Porn" does.Read both books and you will have a big arsenal of tools to fight this addiction.

Great Book
My expectations when I bought the book was to learn about how pornography affects the dynamics of relationships. From a personal perspective I have used pornography and before I even picked up this book I knew that it affected how I interacted with other people because of guilt, shame, and the sexual objectivity I place on women. It was very enlightening to read about the many different situations individuals went through in the book. Pornography is a very scary thing and the stories in this book showcased the tragic impacts it has on people. Not only how it can result in a lost job, wife, or family, but many of these men use pornography as an outlet of intimacy and rob themselves and their wives of a fulfilling intimate relationship. It is very tragic to realize this because so many people will walk through life and not experience the abundance of joy that could come from that. I am not married, but I hope to experience that one day too. In today's culture I would recommend everyone read this if I could... God bless

The Porn Trap
Good introductory information about the reality of the addiction. Nothing really great about HOW to get sober. There's no deep understanding of men's sexuality, about the nature of lust. It's not just the porn, it's the lust. This book is not 12-step oriented. It's basically talk therapy. So they're making a buck off you, it's not freely given. Also, there's no indication that they had have any issue from a personal standpoint, so this book is written by nonaddicts to an audience of addicts.

Truly can be a recovery Guide
I think this book has the potential of truly helping a dedicated person overcome compulsive use of porn. It begins by clearly spelling out the many negative consequences of habitually using porn, which needs to be clarified and comprehended by porn users as they begin their journey to recover. Being the wife of a recovering compulsive porn user, I strongly appreciate the in-depth explanation of a partner's emotions when secret porn is discovered. It was worth reading just to learn that other partners feel as devastated as I have felt over the last several weeks. My emotions are all over the place and match almost exactly the authors' description. (I guess I am a textbook case.) Somehow it soothed me, to some degree, to found out that my emotions were normal--my husband thought I was overreacting. After all, "all men use porn." A chunk of the book provides steps and strategies to ending porn addiction. It also has advice that can help partners ride out their strong negative emotions and heal. However, I would say the main emphasis is on helping the porn user rather than the suffering partner.

Very well organised and written
Excellent book. The first half of the book tells you all about the problem and how it affects you, while the second half tells you the best methods of countering the problem. The two authors are therapists who have had years of practical experience in this area. I particularly liked hearing of the experiences and thoughts of clients who have been quoted throughout the book, using pseudonyms. The book is well set out. The paperback edition has an excellent index, while the kindle edition has the search function. It is also well written and easy to read. An essential supplement to therapy.
