Firm, not soft- make sure your medium works nicely with a stiffer brush.
Be aware they have a fairly firm bristle. Might be ok for tempera paint on paper, but not ideal for acrylic.

I do those "paint parties" that are so popular right now. These small brushes are good for inexperienced painter who all want a smaller brush. They do not loose their hair as you paint and the sharp edge can be turned sideways to make a good line.

They’re really small brushes so I was disappointed in their size. I thought they were bigger flat brushes but I can still use them so not sending back, but just a heads up for anyone wanting larger flat brushes.
