Do any of the balms have alcohol or chemicals in them

Just checked the Sandalwood one (the only one I have left) and the answer is no. Argan oil, Eucalyptus globulus leaf, beeswax, vitamin E, sandalwood seed oil. I mean, if you are being picky then any one of them would classify as chemicals, but in the way you mean no, the ingredients are all natural. Love the product btw, really good quality.

Is the texture waxy or soft?

I would say soft, I have been using their products for over a year and they are really good. It is not something you would use for hipster styling, but keeps the whiskers nicely tamed
