Not sure if it has one ( although most likely 1 year from manufacturer) you always can count on Amazon's 30 day returns if you have prime.

Does it work in cassette player like a Walkman?

You're misunderstanding what this is for. The cassette goes into the car's cassette player and the audio jack goes into a mobile device like a portable cd player, phone or mp3 player with an older audio output jack. So you can play from your portable device through the car's stereo. You have it the other way around. Hope that helps a couple years later.

does the tape deck still have to be able to play a cassette? The drive doesn't work (rubber band broken) but the radio still works.

As long as the magnetic head still works, and the tape player "thinks" it's playing a tape, then the tape adapter will work when the rubber belt breaks.
