Great kit, good lens, a few less-than-great add-ons...
This was my first ever SLR camera purchase, and I must say I have no regrets at all. The body is very capable, easy to learn controls, incredible build quality, long battery life, great CMOS APS-C sensor, although it doesn't quite match up to the latest and greatest in noise performance. I bought the camera to take photographs on an upcoming trip, and I'm so glad I did. I recommend doing some research on the lenses and the camera body on your own, there are some obvious pros and cons to purchasing this body, so I'll skip over that and give my opinions on the kit after investing a couple hundred extra dollars on my setup and lots of time shooting:The 55-250 mm lens makes this kit so much more worthwhile. It's a perfect telephoto lens for this body. The sharpness of the images it produces is incredible. It's a bit slow at f/4-5.6, but good luck finding better value in the tele lens market, especially for an APS-C sensor body and with image stabilization. Only drawback is the vignetting in the corners, but it doesn't bother me much. The other lens, the 18-55 mm, is not my favorite. I feel like it's not sharp enough, especially at long distances to the target (such as landscapes). You can't get a very narrow DOF with F3.5 either. Someday I want to replace this lens with a better zoom lens such as the Sigma 17-50mm Sigma f/2.8 - but you can tack on the Canon EFS 24 mm f/2.8 pancake lens for pretty cheap, which has superior sharpness and a low profile, for those mid-wide angle shots.I use the bag to store the camera and four lenses, plus spare batteries, flash cards, filters, and lens cloths. It's not the highest quality bag but it works fine for me. I didn't like the over-the-shoulder bag at all, however. The flash cards are fine for .jpg shooting also, but don't use them for shooting continuous especially in RAW format because they are too slow! Your buffer will fill up real quick. I had to pick up a few high-speed cards to supplement shooting high def video or continuous shooting.I got good use out of the polarizing filter and the flash card reader, and had a lot of fun using the wide angle adapter attached to the 18-55 lens. Forget about using the telephoto adapter, it totally ruins the image quality of the brilliantly sharp 55-250 lens.Would have been nice if it came with a spare battery instead of the rest of the trashy addons... the tripod is especially awful.

4 1/2 Stars. The Accessories are Meh!
I am giving this camera 4 1/2 stars because the body and the lenses are somewhat within the price range of this unit. The journalistic major chose this kit based on the lenses and thinking the accessories are a nice bonus.Having said all that and having had these types of cameras (mine is Nikon) in the old days (we used film and my camera is still going strong), I have to say that it is disappointing that the cheap accessories are Vivitar (not the greatest quality). The tripod feels flimsy, so I gave the photographer my old tripod that held the heavy Nikon in place very well. The little tripod can be had for about a $1.00 in most places and have gotten several for free with other purchases in the past. They just take up space around the house. The SD cards are nice to get started but not fast enough or good enough to be the only cards. We will be getting higher speed/quality cards very soon. The camera cases are okay to store all this stuff in one place, but I doubt it will be the permanent solution. They are good temporarily, but will be getting sturdier and better made camera bags soon. All in all, we are happy with the body of the camera and the Canon lenses. The other accessories are just nice little fillers that don't contribute much to the quality of the set, but in the pictures it makes it look like you are getting a lot of things for the average price of the camera. Most of it is going to be used temporarily until funds allow better quality products to be purchased.Now.... Having said all this, I did not see anywhere anything about the warranty for this camera and need to investigate further, but I found another link here on Amazon where the warranty is 3 years and it comes with a variety of add-ons that are different from this set and you may want to consider, if for the price, one will work better for your needs than the other.http://www.amazon.com/Canon-EOS-70D-Professional-Definition/dp/B00KXFXMUC/ref=sr_1_14?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1442020312&sr=1-14&keywords=Canon+EOS+70D

Excellent value on a great camera.
Not being a professional photographer I cannot speak for the technical specs of the camera. My review is strictly on the quality of the pictures and capabilities of the camera. This kit comes with everything someone just getting into DSLR would need. While the accessories are not exactly top shelf, they do work quite well for the beginner or amateur photographer. The camera itself takes fantastic pictures even in low to moderate light conditions. We recently took a trip to a museum which forbids flash photography. Even under such restrictions we were able to take great photographs of the exhibits. Even pictures taken outdoors at night came out great.Under normal use the battery longevity is quite remarkable. We were on four-day holiday and forgot to bring along the battery charger. During that time we took over 200 hi-res images with and without the flash and at the end of the holiday the cameras battery still had over half its charge. Now one must keep in mind the Canon D70 is not a $50 point-and-shoot camera and as such requires a degree of learning to master it. The included manual will get you started but you must download the available .pdf files in order to take advantage of the cameras numerous functions. In summary this camera kit is good value for the money. The included accessories will allow you to quickly get started as well as experiment with a wide range of photographic techniques and get professional looking results.

Great package for beginners like me who didn't have anything
Great package for beginners like me who didn't have anything. The tabletop tripod is useless though since it doesn't hold the weight of this camera, but everything else was nice, particularly the full tripod it's super compact and lightweight so you really can take it anywhere without feeling like a pack mule.

Amazing camera but with useless accesories
The camera and the two lenses are amazong; however, the accessories are a bunch of useless stuff. Except for memory cards which are of mediocre qualities.
